No way Clouston should get another year, who is to say he doesn't lose the support of his team again? Like has been said before he is all vinegar, we need a guy that will work well with the team and have some give and take. Would much rather see BM behind the bench again before Clouston. As for BM im ok with him having an extension.

This team is underachieving this year. No one, not even the fans predicted this. Bad defensive play and bad goaltending contributed a lot to where they are. Players -- play which a lot of the older core were not doing.. hense the shake up. I don't actually see Fisher & Kelly lighting it up with their respective new teams. I believe Colorado did the Anderson-Elliot t trade-- knowing that Anderson was not going to re-sign and with Elliott they could take aim for the bottom of the standings.. which is working out well for them. This team's core got too comfortable and forgot the hard work ethic.

Walked the dogs and missed three goals. WTF. I do think Clouston is doing a great job with the kids but the only way he stays is if Murray remains as GM and that's the last thing I want to see. I had been thinking that Peter sidorkiewicz was coming up with some truly brilliant hockey insights until I learned that someone else had hi-jacked his name. Just kidding Peter, that's pretty low. Karlsson is brutal defensively. He needs a guy like Cowen to cover for him. Too bad Cowen may be wasted covering for another defensive dman who can't play with a puck mover.

I think we should keep Murray. I have never had a problem with him. Trading usually involves risk/reward. Some just didnt turn out. He has a solid scouting which I feel very comfortable with for the next few years. Let Murrays players develop over the next 3 years before judging. Once that time comes I think we will be very satisfied. Clouston had to many moments of poor decicion making. I don't think he reads depth potential in some players all that well. Over his short tenure here, too many times he consistently used guys who were underachieving while not using the boys who were playing well for a strectch of games. P.L was a huge bust with injury's here, but for the life of me I never understood his Elliott thing. P.L could never get comfortable once healthy. While being injured a lot, he spent way too much time on the bench when healthy. Its just one example of many poor management decisions. Dont let our record of late decieve.

The strongest arguments we have for keeping Clouston are: He's good with youth (debatable) Sens go through coaches like socks I don't think he's a bad coach like "Tryant", whoever that is (big deal if Heatley and Kovalev weren't happy), but he's certainly had his failings. I see no reason to keep Clouston just so we don't fire another coach or because we won't be competitive next year anyway. These are incidental and no real reasons. I wouldn't be too pissed with a one year deal but it would be odd to keep him on for a rebuild. Much rather see a tabula rasa.

Snoopy Senior Would you be talking about Bob Hartley? No thanks. Yes the team is making a late season push when it does not matter. A lot of that can be attributed to great goaltending. If these young guys can play the 'system' Clouston has -- then why the team prior to all the trades could not do that? That's the question I would be asking. As far as not putting out Condra & Karlssen late in the game to get their hattricks.... the reason was I assume the games were close at the time.. one goal wins actually. So would not the coach want to try his best to get the players on the ice to win the game or send a player out to get a hattrick. This is a team game not an individual game. Maybe the players who would not 'play' for Clouston are gone... maybe they were the problem. He is very good with young players and that's what this team needs going forward.

@ chirp Can't remember what the score was when Condra was looking for his trick, but didn't he hve Karlsson on the ice when he was going for a trick? Even if not, a 2-1 game is definitely NOT a situation where I want Karlsson looking for a hat trick. It's probably 60% likely giveaway on the tying goal and 40% likely he gets the trick. Obviously completely arbitrary, but the last thing I want is Karlsson thinking "goal" when he should be just desperately trying to keep the opposition from scoring. PS is there anyway I can become the sole proprietor of the name "Peter Sidorkiewicz"? There's an 8year old with retarded opinions (:D) posting 'as me'.
Honestly Sens fans, a lot of us aren't recognizing what we're seeing right now: The classic no pressure late season surge. Makes sense: The Sens haven't been in this position for a long, long time. The team and coach are winning cause they're playing loose. Add to that a goalie desperate for a big UFA payday and a bunch of very raw rookies getting a once in a lifetime shot to showcase their stuff in the big show... It's fun to watch, but I don't think it has much meaning for next year (other than our draft position).

The only way I can see Clouston coming back is if Alfie, Spezz and Big Rig go to Murray and say they want him back. And if he returns, it will most likely be a two year contract. I don't think any organization would expect to have a lame duck coach on an expiring contract two years in a row. There is too much uncertainty for a coach to focus on his work when the noose is constantly dangled in front of him. I'm on the fence regarding his return whereas a few months ago I wanted him gone immediately. If the team can maintain a level of compete during the rebuild, and actually develop a system, (hopefully not the neutral zone trap 82 games a year), but sound defence with forward support, than I say give him a chance.

The team isn't scoring goals, but still winning games. And not only winning games, but finding ways to CLOE OUT games, of which the team at the start of the season couldn't do to save their lives. Completely agreed Chirp. I think a few more moves /additions in the off season *should* fix that Now the Sens aren't expected to win a cup or anything next year, so I'd like to see Clouston back for one more year and prove what he's got. Force him to show all his marbles. This team has had so many coaching changes in the past 5 years, it's just leading me to believe that it has to be the players, and not the coaches *cough* Heatley.

Completely agree. Now no offense to Alfie, who is obviously the face of the franchise and our beloved captain, BUT is it a coincidence that since Alfie's injury, 2-3 weeks ago; and all of the rosters moves, that this team has played its BEST hockey of the year? Of course goaltending is the biggest factor, but it has also been the skaters on the ice as well.

I will always remember the time that Alfredsson and Clouston clashed, around Xmas, in the assessment of what was not working. At that time , I posted a subject on Sens Talk with the title " Blame The Coach....N0 Blame The Players" Still believe that it was a negative attitude of some core players towards Clouston, that killed the will of this team ! The 7-3 record with 6 regulars gone, says it all !! Bring both Murray and Clouston back, with 1 year extension and monitor same !

Agree with 383 Cory Clouston isn't a bad coach. Look at this recent turnaround: a change in coaching philosophy? I don't think so? A change in the attitude of these young players who have everything to prove and nothing to lose? I think so. CC is showing that he can play with a group of guys who want to play good hockey. Last year's success was no "fluke". It was the result of good coaching, respect for the coach, and just good hockey. I honestly think with the addition of some new young players that the team will be a better product next season. And Bryan Murray deserves to stay hands down I think. He's earned another contract. It's amazing what a little pressure on a GM, and a fresh roster for a coach, can do for a team.

Listen, the guy had an amazing year last year and a brutal year this year. So he's 1-1. Why not give him a one year deal to prove his worth. I think he deserves it..call me crazy.
