A New Feature- Introducing ChirpEd

Do you have an opinion about the Ottawa Senators or hockey in general? Well of course you do. We all do and that's what makes the SensChirp community one of the best on the internet.

With that in mind, I've decided to set up a new blog section for you, the loyal readers of this site. Building on the success of our Chirp of the Week feature, the ChirpEd section is a place where you can make your voice heard and have your opinion featured and discussed by thousands of diehard hockey fans.

This section, which now appears under its own tab at the top of the page, is for those times when the comment section just isn't enough.

When you have a longer, more in depth opinion or analysis on an issue and want to make your voice heard. Now I don't want you to think you're limited to just the Senators either. If you have a take on the a player, a rule, a trade or the NHL in general, or even something that's going on down in the American Hockey League, this is the place to share it.

The comments underneath each submission will focus on the issue presented in the submission. Our usual comment section banter will continue under my daily post.

All you have to do is email your ChirpEd submission to me at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it and I'll post the best entries in the new section. I'll work with you on any editing that may be required and will post the best entries as they are submitted.

If you have any questions about the new section, feel free to email me directly or ask in the comment section below. Really look forward to seeing what you all come up with!

So instead of Chirp of the week, we just post our thoughts (outside of the regular comment board) here and let people discuss?

Yup. Sort of a running Chirp of the Week space.

Hoping to get a good mix of articles including some content that isn't necessarily Senators specific...

You have to write your own article. It't for those times when you have an in depth take on something. Then the article is submitted to me and I post.

We'll try it out and see how it goes...

Alright, so the same Methot (wink wink) we did in the past, emailing you the article. Sounds good.

I think if this doesn't take off immediately you may wish to suggest a topic or two to get people thinking.

Not a bad idea. Was hoping people would have a couple ideas ready to go but perhaps some provoking may be necessary...

I still like the debate idea - pick a topic such as should the senators trade Anderson or should Phillips have his shirt retired and then pick a pro and con and post them on the same day.

i suggest looking at your regular blog posts of what is coming to a boiling point thats causing a lot of discussion to bring it here as a debate point then everyone here should know that this discussion is no holds barred.. this will allow you to manage the other discussion sections to ask people who want to participate to come here... two birds ... basically keep all the crazies on one side and all the weaklings on the other :P

Trade rumours are usually a good catalyst for discussion.
You could start a topic called WWED (What Would Eklund Do?)

The topics will be set by the readers and the articles they submit. The power is in your hands!

The SensChirp version of an Op-Ed. A Chirp-Ed or a ChirpEd.

That name seemed so damn clever when I came up with it...
