The Ottawa Senators will practice at 4:00 PM today so it should be a fairly quiet day around these parts.

It's a good time to check in on the AHL's Binghamton Senators, who scored a big 4-2 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs in a game that was played at the Bell Centre in Montreal.

The province of Alberta has certainly been kind to the Ottawa Senators.

The Sens took advantage of a sloppy Edmonton Oilers team and walked away with an easy 5-2 win that pulls Ottawa back above .500 and within a single point of the division leading Buffalo Sabres.

The Senators have now won two straight road games over the Leafs and Flames and will look to continue their winning ways against the surprising Edmonton Oilers.

Ottawa is coming off a text book road win in Calgary on Tuesday night.  Daniel Alfredsson opened the scoring and Bobby Butler scored the other two as the Sens topped the Flames by a 3-1 score. 

(UPDATE 5:20 PM)- Bryan Murray met with the media this afternoon to address the rumours about Filatov. He confirmed that Filatov is considering a move to the KHL and said he requested that the forward wait until the end of November to make a decision.  Important to note that unless Filatov breaks the contract to leave, this is a decision that rests with the Ottawa Senators.

Really don't think they will let him go to Russia.

Coming in to the game, Bobby Butler had gone scoreless on the season.

Well maybe the trip out West was just what he needed. Butler scored twice in the third period, including a gorgeous individual effort to give the Sens a lead they would not relinquish on their way to a 3-1 win. 

The Ottawa Senators begin their three game West Coast swing with a stop in Calgary tonight.  They are in Edmonton on Thursday and visit Vancouver on Sunday.

Ottawa is coming off a slump busting 5-2 win in Toronto on Saturday night while the Flames snapped a two game losing streak with a 4-3 win over the Colorado Avalanche.

After the start the Columbus Blue Jackets have had this year, it should come as no surprise that they are considering making moves.

Meanwhile, Sens GM Bryan Murray has indicated that he would like to add another NHL quality forward to his roster at some point.  Was informed by a contact last night that the Sens and Jackets are discussing a deal for Derick Brassard.

After an ugly loss in Buffalo just 24 hours ago, it looked like the Sens were ripe for the picking against the rival Maple Leafs.

Well that's not the way the Senators saw it.  Ottawa dominated the special teams game, got a solid effort from Craig Anderson and scored a much needed 5-2 win at the ACC in Toronto.
