Coming off a 4-3 shootout win in their preseason opener against the Hershey Bears, the AHL Sens looked like a handful again last night, this time scoring a 5-3 win over those same Bears. It's always tough to get an accurate reading in the preseason when line ups are often only a portion of the full team but Bingo has looked strong through their first two preseason outings.
This time is was Jean Gabriel Pageau, Mika Zibanejad, Mike Hoffman, Jakub Culek and Andre Petersson contributing the offence.
Pageau has looked excellent through his first two pro games and really looks like a guy that could turn some heads in the AHL this season. You can see exactly why the Sens scouting staff said he was one of their most exciting picks from the 2011 draft.
Mike Hoffman, who some feel could be ready for a shot at the NHL, was a force for Binghamton, picking up four points in the win.
Meanwhile, highly touted first round pick Mika Zibanejad continued to shine offensively. After an up and down season with an awful Djugardens team last year, Zibanejad seems to be adjusting well to the North American game and looks like he could have a big year at the AHL level.
With Hoffman, Zibanejad, Pageau, Silfverberg, Stone, Prince, Petersson and Da Costa all expected to make the team, it's safe to assume offence will be a strength for Richardson's group.
Again, the sample size is very small but if the early indications are accurate, it could be an exciting season in Binghamton, New York
- Strong start for Sens prospects at the AHL level but a couple of guys playing in the CHL continue to impress as well. Matt Puempel of the Kitchener Rangers picked up a goal and an assist on Friday night and now has 5 goals and 7 points through his team's first five games. In Plymouth, Stefan Noesen has racked up 3 goals and 4 points through four games.
- For the first time since the process began, yesterday felt like a somewhat positive day on the CBA front. Gary Bettman, Bill Daly and the Fehr brothers met in Toronto in an unscheduled and seemingly surprise meeting of the two sides. The NHL and NHLPA are expected to connect again over the weekend.
Here's hoping we don't have to let any of these talented assets walk away simply due to a lack of space for them.
The quantity for quality scenario suggested by the Murray's looks like a very real possibility at some point if the return is right.
Definitely an exciting time to watch our youth develop.
Lets hope the NHL and NHLPA surprise everyone and get this circus back on track.
That's what I said :) Thanks for the correction.
Did Stone play in both games ??
Who is he lined up with ??
Yup. Played with Pageau and Zibanejad last night I believe. Culek and Dziurzynski in the opener.
Saw this comment in the Ottawa Sun this morning.. Makes me scratch my head...

The NHL players know they're in a battle they don't expect to win but they aren't ready to wave the white towel.
Washington Capitals defenceman Karl Alzner told CSNWashington.c om the players will get the short end of the stick in negotiations for a collective bargaining agreement but they're trying to minimize their losses before the fight is over.
"We know we're going to have to take a hit," Alzner told the website Friday. "It's just how big of a hit we need to take.
"I think both sides know what their next proposal is, it's just who wants to give it first. The owners know what their bottom percentage is and I'm sure Don (Fehr, union head) knows what's going to be a good one for us economically.
"But who's going to be the first one to bite the bullet? No one wants to lose the negotiation. We understand we're definitely not going to win it."

Unbelievable...
Go B-Sens...
I said it before and I will say it again, a few of our NHL player sitting out in this lockout wil be paying the ultimate price with their jobs this year, if it continues.
Guys like Zibby, Hoffman, Silfver, will prove NHL ready, and guys like Condra, Greening will be left expendable, and may even end up in the unemplyed line like Winchester.
Wake up boys, the Crosby's Stamkos' of the world will not miss a beat when things are restored, while he middle of the pack players will go the way of he dodo birds.
However the players that would likely lose their job to the prospects whether its this year or next is Condra and Daugavins, both are smallish forwards with very limited offense. I mean Condra has the hockey sense to play in the league but has the hands of a goat, his hockey sense and smarts gave him all those break aways but he always got stoned. Daugavins is a good locker room guy but I would rather have Hoffman develop in that line than have him.

any streams for tonight chirp?
The Binghamton Senators released four players from their training camp roster on Saturday.
The team sent defenceman Danny New and Chris Wideman, along with forward Brad Peltz, to the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL.
Goalie Scott Greenham will be joining the ECHL's Bakersfield Condors after being released from his tryout agreement.
He is hurt... I thought I heard a twisted knee... but not positive on that..
oh ok that makes sense. That's too bad, but in the end there's no rush. the ECHL will be good for his devl't.
And next yr they will have a bunch of new good prospects as well with Pageau, Prince returning along with Puempel, Noesen, Fransoo, Sdao, Wikstrand & others plus Andrej Sustre if they are able to sign him after his college yr. Things are really looking good for the organization & it's depth. In fact, they have enough good young talent to make some interesting deals in the way of either trading for NHL talent, acquiring more picks or moving down in the 2013 draft to acquire more top ten talent.
I see Pageau playing in the AHL this year

Oops, must have checked an outdated source...
1-0 bingo in the 1st. Not sure who scored
Watched the B-Sens stream tonight.. at the same time as watching the 67's and the same time drinking too much wine..
Someone mentioned on the blogs during the stream of the B-Sens game, that Silfverberg has a groin injury.
I really hoped he is healed in 2 weeks... My plan was to see him play in Bingo.. I'll be disappointed if he is not in the lineup.
Timwrx... any updates on injuries?
Goal scorers: grant, culek, hoffman, benoit, Peterson, stone (empty netter)
It would be great if someone has the assists and highlights of this game or game 2
Sandy, not much. Just got back from the game. More precautionary than anything. Tonight was to figure out the last line i believe.
Team really played not to get hurt tonight. Could have finished checks a bit better. Lehner let a few softies in inmho. Not a big deal though. I know a few people on this board are blinded by the word "prospect" but what a difference a Benoit/Eckford makes to the lineup. Missed last year. Benoit got the biggest props tonight.
Don't know too much about Eckford. Are you at the games on the 19th & 20th? I'm in section 8 row BB for the 19th.. and sec 22 row DD for the 20th. If you are there.. be nice to meet you and put a face to a name...
Eckford is a Vet. He was drafted by the Devils. Played last year with Portland.
These players are like wolves in sheep's clothing. All you have to do is examine their statements and fact check their arguments to know that they are flat out lying.
How is Dillingers for food. We will be looking for a place to eat before the game, after a day of shopping in Syracuse on the way down.
2 SO's with a 1.66 GAA and .932 SV%..I know that is only through 6 games..but very impressive.
Offense is certainly not going to be an issue for the B-Sens this year....
I would say he has returned back to europe to play..didn't find much on this guy.
Wick signed a 3-year contract to return to Kloten in July 2011.
Not a good start for the 67's with only 1 win in 6 games. If you want to focus on some positive things Ceci's 7 points and +4 in 6 games is a good sign of things to come. And well, we all know Sean Monahan would be leading the charge, 10 points is great but the -7 needs to be looked at. I still see him falling into 3rd overall in the draft.
However, all the points in the world won't help them if they keep playing such a lack luster defensive game. Yes they have offense and we've seen it with 24 goals in 6 games, but with a goals against of 26 the odds are you won't win games even if you are scoring 4 goals a night. You don't need goals to win games, just look at Belleville. All I'm saying is these guys need to tighten up the defensive side a little and maybe rush a little less if possible and we'll start seeing more W's on the board.
Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend.
Cowick, Grant, Hoffman, Petersson, Stone and Benoit each potted a goal, great to see such a variety of players scoring right now. We put a total of 44 shots on net, now that's saying something. Lehner turned aside 25 of 28 for the W.
But lost in the celebration was the fact that former Sen Butler notched a goal for the Devils. Good to see he's getting some playing time in the A. Still think he would have been a good fit in Bingo this year, but then again, we are somewhat stacked in the forward dept.
Bingo kicks off the opener this Saturday, I'll be out of town so I won't get a chance to hear it. Anyone know what the Penguins are supposed to look like this year?
Wick is still playing in the Swiss A this year. He played for Kloten last year, 34 games, 11 goals and 21 points, I think he got injured at some point, but they don't put too much info on the web about that. Not too shabby, but nowhere close to his totals when playing for them between 06-07 and 09-10. Although this year he's playing for Zurich and in 9 games he has 3 goals and 7 points, which is a 3 way tie in points for the club.
I was pretty impressed with his Bingo stats from 2010-11 with 20 goals and 42 points. It's too bad he couldn't have stayed here, but then again, he's getting much more ice time and top line minutes, which he more than likely wouldn't get on our roster today.
Definitely. I would compare them very much to Stone's development/dra fting path. All 3 were drafted before they got their shot at prime time minutes in the minors. Murray's team seems to be really good at predicting these types!
Back in the Rangers organization... I guess they needed someone to replace Redden... who will most likely be the buyout option for the Rangers.
Nope, not yet. But I think a few saw it coming, we have so many options this year.
Are you going to give updates on the Sens who are playing in Europe? I'd be interested to know how Karlsson and Spezza do over there, I'm sure a few more will follow as well because this season is gettin' locked-dafaq-ou t.....
