According to reports on Twitter, Sens defenceman and defending Norris Trophy winner Erik Karlsson is headed to Finland during the lockout.
Initial speculation had Karlsson returning to Frolunda of the SEL but apparently that speculation was a tad premature. Instead, it appears as though Karlsson has opted to join Jokerit of the Finnish Elite League.
If the reports are accurate, Karlsson will join former Senator Jarkko Ruutu who spent last season with Jokerit.
not a bad choice.
IF we do have an NHL season without these two players.. then Sean Monahan... come on down.
and have agreed to re-start the talks on this coming Friday.
They have not had formal talks since Sept 12.
Hope it is centered on HRR, and that they get down and truly
focus on moving forward, with serious negotiating !!
According to media, it is about everything except HRR. All non - core economic issues will be discussed. That's fine, as long as they are talking it is a step forward. Lets hope agreeing on things is addictive for them.
Guaranteed it has to do with a) Contract length clauses or b) insurance...
You should change your name to Nancy. Negative Sandy does not have the same ring..
Don't think we need to worry too much about it Sandy, mind you accidents can always happen. Both the Finnish and Swiss leagues are more about speed and skill, bone crushing hits and concussions are not as common. Then again, one of them could pull a groin!!
I heard on the Team yesterday that Sweden has one of the highest tax brackets and is often a problem for players who go back to play, having to pay taxes if they stay for a specific amount of time. They mentioned that Sundin (damn Leaf) would often go back to Sweden after missing the playoffs, but never to go play Hockey. All this just to avoid the taxes. I know nothing about it personally, just what I heard.
Isn't the main point left is how much each side gets in the HRR. I believe I read that the NHL in their last offer had changed their stance on HRR and left it as it has been. That should be an advantage to the players right there... now to get them to agree on how to split it...
If you don't agree with what I write on this site.. you don't have to read it. Injuries do happen... the Sens were very lucky last season in that area...
FREEBIRD !
All I am saying is you are a very negative poster. There is no reason to assume our players will be injured in europe during the lockout infact they are much more likely to be injured playing in the NHL. Would you have made the same statement if they were playing in the NHL this season? Its a big IF either way and its a very negative big IF.
I have been reading Sandy's posts for a long time, and she is not a negative nancy...more of a sensible sandy, perhaps. If you want negativity, wait for it - there are lots of posters who specialize in the dark side.
Well Heatley almost lost his eye while playing in Europe the last lockout... injuries do happen.. One way to look at it I guess.. they are not in the KHL... They reportedly have a team there that is made up of a lot of physical players... they were the team to sign Yablonski...
I repeat... don't read my posts..
But you cant deny she has shown her dark side here today. The news of Karlsson possibly signing in Finland has inspired her to worry about a "Fail for Nail" scenario.
Very interesting article... again why do people support the NHLPA in this?
Still going on about this every day? Let's move on, you're making the lockout feel longer for all of us who happen to read these comments.
Yes I could ignore them all, but I do like your normal contributions to the site.
If I don't mention the lockout.. then I guess it will be over shortly.. correct?

Kiss our collective asses loser, we can talk about whatever the fuck we want here, especially... You know.... HOCKEY stuff?
Ignore him Sandy, he is a tool, I would welcome him to take a break from the site if he doesn't like lockout discussion.
Oh Rush, someone needs to give you a hug.
I LIKE Sandy's take on the current NHL situation.
She hits most of the salient points in a concise and precise manner.
I don't have to waste time sorting through the media blather or NHL/NHLPA propaganda.
NHL will not change def of HRR at this point, which was a huge hurdle.
Honestly, I think the NHL just wants the NHLPA to counter THEIR proposal with a 54% share that slides to 50% and sticks over 5 years at 50/50.
The NHLPA says they have offered 54% share but also a bunch of extra stuff regarding revenue sharing, selling draft picks and a bunch of other fantasy nonsense that is a non - starter.
if the players don't want to lose a penny next year, all it will take is 54.5% vs 57% assuming 5% growth, which by everyone's account is a conservative estimate. and, like everyone knows will happen anyway, let it slide back to 50% split over a few years. if growth continues at 3-5% over the next 5 years they won't lose a penny.
And - maybe there is a better system out there but figure it out over the next few years. The CBA can be changed at any time as long as the NHL and NHLPA agree to the changes.
that is my math anyway. I failed math in high school so if I am wrong, someone here will surely correct me.
I don't need a hug anymore than we need some tool who thinks he can tell people what they are allowed to post or not.
God I don't miss that POS group
Interesting that EK65 will be playing in Finland rather than in Sweden. Hopefully his game can continue to flourish and he can gain some more experience.
To still be regularly posting here is really great
Seriously :)
Further to that, I think Sandy is looking as a glass half full, if Spezza or Karlsson goes down, we stand a very good chance as being a lottery team and Monahan would be an unbelievable pick up. This kid will be a star in the NHL within a few years, rebuild complete!
With all the talk and discussions being about the lockout, it almost makes coming here a little less attractive. I'd like to see everyone focus on what Chirp said a few posts ago. We will now talk about Bingo, or any other Hockey that relates to the Sens, you can count 67's now with Ceci!!
So what's the news? Looks like the Bingo pre-season kicks off Oct 1st. While I haven't followed the AHL as much as I do the NHL, I plan on diving in this year. I've been reviewing stats, learning names, etc. I can't believe the teams that will be playing this year, with all the younger NHL talent hitting the A, we are in for some great Hockey. I think Bingo will have a top end team this year, after finishing bottom of there devision last year. But man, the real story this year is going to be Oklahoma City, without a doubt. Adding Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Jordan Eberle and Justin Schultz to the roster is going to be big.
So who's in for a Bingo bus tour? I'm sure Chirp is already looking into it, right.. .RIGHT!!!
If so follow the link that my buddy set up:

We are trying to get 30 GM all together.
Thanks
They did very well last year and should only get better this year with players like garnder and scrivens in the mix
Their players aren't really nhl ccaliber like ours but still very solid ahlers.
Kadri is a player that can light it up in the A but doesn't have the size to do it in the biggs
Still think bingo should be better as we have plenty of nhlers like cowen zib silfv but toronto should still be competitive.
Join "chirpers".
Lots o'teams left!
You can play in more than one League.
Edmonton and Philly will also have power house teams with the players they've assigned...
The option is there but has not been enabled, something about creating to much lagg on the network. I think it will be activated sometime in the future. Once things have quieted down a bit.
I hope anyways, make the whole thing much more fair.

Thanks for the reply. Is it the same issue for an offline league? I ask because it's the only mode I use and they took it out of Madden this year and I can't get my money back there.
I have not tried the offline version but I know the option is there. Right now I'm addicted to Be A Pro. Once that wears off (it will) I'll try Be A GM.

You can play in more than one League.
Didn't know.
See you in the finals.
Although the lock out sucks dead donkey dick I feel the sens are better off than most. We have a lot of prospects who will be a year further on in their development when it comes to breaking into the league and we have relatively few veterans on bad contracts and we have a lot of cap space.
What the hell did they do to you, you sound like a scorned lover...Did they use and abuse you?
FREEBIRD !
I have to admit I never played this years. I bought last years, played it for 3 weeks and that was about it. I found the change between previous years and last years very significant. I'm thinking about buying it this year, as we won't have hockey to watch, I will now have more time on my hands in the evening.
I think Bingo and Oklahoma City are the big teams!
San Antonio will be very good too. Florida has one of the best prospect pools in the league
You mean Norfolk?
Where is Hax ?
They swapped franchises. Syracuse has Tampa now. Norfolk has Anaheim. Adirondack got Couturier/Schen n not to mention a hell of a goon squad with Rinaldo/Sestito/Fitzgerald.
Bingo won't be playing OK City unless its in the finals.

Where is moedozer ?
The NHL is getting scary close to a moment of even more embarrassment than the NFL suffered. The NHL is getting close to making itself the laughing stock of pro sports. Missing games for the the third time in a row when negotiating a CBA will be disastrous on the sports stage.
From my times hanging out in the NHL offices I have learned one thing for certain. The NHL cares about how it is perceived in the realm of the other major sports leagues. They are playing a much more dangerous game of chicken than they realize.
I am not a doom and gloom person when it comes to this lockout. I honestly don't see an issue on the table worth throwing yourself on your sword for. This is simply about money. That's all. I honestly believe we won't miss many games this year... That is what I continue to be told. However, I also know there are egos out there at work right now...and it is scaring many people I talk to as well.
This weekend will be interesting. My hope here is the NHL is paying attention to the NFL...as I know they generally do...
They still looking for window cleaners?
Why would we call them up? We have enough in bingo already. It's good news I guess but I wonder why the NHL teams get to call up from junior if this lockout ends?
Well done sir...
Where is the Polkaroo ?
Haha my apologies. I'll admit the original post did give me chuckle. Just a little mean spirited is all.
