The fifth straight win came in style!
The Ottawa Senators stunned the MSG faithful with a furious third period rally that nobody saw coming. Well except for anyone that has watched the Sens this year. They will not go down without a fight!
When Richards scored to put the Rangers up 4-1, it looked like it was going to be a walk for the Blueshirts the rest of the way. That was until I remembered I was watching the Ottawa Senators.
Another stunning third period rally led by a pair of goals by Jason Spezza and Ottawa came all the way back to steal a point from New York. With those two goals, Spezza is now just a point back in the NHL scoring race and continues to carry this Sens offence.
Ottawa moved to 3-0 in the shootout against a very tough goalie in Lundqvist. Michalek (who also tied the game in regulation) scored the lone goal for the visitors and Anderson kept everything out of his net.
It was overshadowed by the third period comeback, but Daniel Alfredsson left the game after a cheap shot from Wojtek Wolski. He will be facing a lengthy suspension.
Ottawa is right back at it tomorrow night when they go for their sixth straight against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
GO SENS GO!!
It was also bushleague that Konopka got 5 and a game while Wolski only got a 2min. The refs need to start keeping there calls consistent because this is getting out of control and also really frustrating.
but anyways huge character win tonight and hopefully our Captain is not out long term, hopefully he was only pulled for precautionary reasons.
GSG!
3 points for Kubey Doo
(who now has a plus/minus of ZERO for the season)
29 minutes of ice time for King Karlsson
In fact he might get 5 games just to keep him out of that Ottawa game.
I am very impressed with the way we haven't given up until the final buzzer. Anderson hasn't been anything special, but he has been good enough.
Niko
Keep it going against those laughs.
Wow, flatout WOW! at 4-1 I still had hope, right after the faceoff when Richards scored we got the puck deep and KEPT it there, for each minute played the Rangers had the puck for 5-10 secs, the Senators the rest. I said in my mind HERE THEY GO AGAIN! Never turn your back on this team people! I said after 7-1 and 7-2 they just have to figure it out, Well I think it's safe to say they have!
I pvr'd the game and I'm just about to watch the game starting after Richards made it 4-1, Hell after it's done I may watch it again!
Blads didn't score so he's got to score tomorrow for me to be right on my predicting his 1st goal this weekend. He played well though! Call on Konopka was a fuckin JOKE!
Bring on the Laffs and Scrivens lol
6 in a row tomorrow night!
We Rule!
Terribly lethargic first period by both teams, but the Sens were calm and tenacious, they certainly deserved this win (again) not a fluke win.
Hopefully Alfie is fine. That was one cheap hit and I'm positive a suspension of at least 3 games is looming. The hit, at least on camera didn't look that *devastating* though, I was surprised it took Alfie out of the game, as I said we all hope he will be fine.
Big game tomorrow. I'm all for giving Lehner a shot but how you can sit Anderson with the hot streak he;s been on.
Sleep happy! Go Sens!
Wolski will get the book, Shanny doesnt fuck around with head shots....that was dirty as hell, think they're was something going on between the two? I mean why the hell do that?
Its like Wolski wanted to get back at him...
Konopka might get 1 game for a blindside hit on a defenseless player that Konopka could have avoided...
It's the type of hit they are trying to eliminate so Shanny better do his job and not be a hypocrite.
I'm going to watch closely and see if anything happened between Alfie and fagski
At 8:23 of the 3rd there was a faceoff deep in the Rangers end and Fagski threw a hit on Alfie back of the net right off the draw, seemed like it took awhile for them to get back in to the play. Than right back down the ice before the 8 minute mark Fagski blindsides him. Alfie probably shoved him back after the hit (which was a little late) or gave him a tap and that likely was followed by some chirping
Get the prick on retaliation too!
I Think Wolski did it to get back for the hit on Anisimov. I know that Alfie had nothing to do with it, but if they are going to retaliate, why not do it on someone important...?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DmgqPfkf20&feature=player_embedded
on my part it may be wishful thinking but still makes plenty sense.
Wolski will get 5 games if not more, what an asshole....
Go Sens go!
thanks
If there's one thing this team has shown, it's heart. We're not going to forget this one.
I'm lovin' the Stache. Spezza, Karlsson, and the rest of the team have obviously bought into the system big time, and he keeps us fighting to the very end. Great hire.
MAD AS HELL.
GO SENNSS GOOOO!!
3 beautiful goals in 7 minutes and 52 seconds!!!
Didn't see the 3rd period because of work, but did Zenon Konopka get a game misc. for his hit on Anisimov, yet Wolski DIDN'T for his headshot on Alfie?
Please tell me I'm wrong?
day.
It's just really great being a Sens fan .... as Kenny Powers would say - see 'ya Bitches!
I don't even know what to say to that.
Despite the Sens win tonight....some thing needs to be done about these kind of BS calls. Ok....maybe...m aybe...a 2 min call for the hit at the most. But a 5 min boarding major??
We may as well of lost this game 7-1 if it would have gotten the attention of the league that this game was badly officiated.
On that note...good win....good energy from our team that no-one expected much out of.
GSG.
PS.. Please let Alfie be ok. Not so much for playing games, but moreso for his health.
Happy to see that they're resilient despite all the odds.
GO SENS GO
PLAYOFFS BABY !!! Let's end this weekend with a Leafs whoopin !! GO SENS
Go Sens Go
Great seein the team's reaction after the win.
Especially Zenon's aha what a guy!
i love how kuba is raising his value! he still sucks defensively but maybe we will be able to trade him to some sorry sap of a team after all!
spezza the playmaster, michalek the speedster, greening the work horse! love that line!
PESKY SENS!!
could not agree more!
Great game by the Sens. They are just so fun and exciting to watch right now.
Anderson needs to play better and Da Costa looked a little weak on the puck at times.
At the end of the 2nd, beginning of the 3rd. There was too much individual effort but we came around to win again. Amazing.
Norris favorite ?? You get what I'm sayin
And to everyone who thought the penalty call on Konopka was the right one - YOU ARE WRONG!!!! That bad call almost cost us the game - terrible officiating...
I can't believe some Sens fans were on here posting during the game that the Konopka hit deserved 5 minutes - unbelieveably stupid and probably not real Senators fans anyway...
...AND LETS BEAT THE SCUM TOMORROW!!!!!!
GO SENS GO!!!
And what a game. But do I ever hope we get a win tomorrow night
It would be amazing if Karlsson got the norris this year. I don't think for at least 3 years til he gets considered but boy that kid is good. Spezza should be for art ross or whatever award it is for mvp of the league. Great player
Poor Alfie what a cheap hit whenever someone gets runned liked that I'm sayin "he got wolskied" but glad to hear Nikita will get another shot with the big boys! I think he will be a key contributer in the future
I'm not worried about tookie...
...I'm wondering where the "FAIL FOR NAIL" Camp are hiding? Come on boys, you were very passionate about the 1st overall pick two weeks ago - why so quiet now???
I won't knock the wins and I called Ottawa to finish aroun 10-12 in the east but drafting a bonafide superstar would go a hell of a long way for us...Short term pain, long term gain...I'll take the wins though, even if they all come by the hair of our balls haha
also, I think calling up Filatov is the wrong move given that we're playing the Leafs. Hope I'm wrong though
And fuck Wolski, Konopka hit him on the side it was so clear even on the replay.
So to reiterate...
- Fuck Wolski
- Fuck fail for Nail
Maybe the thought of the winning the Cup is completely ridiculous but hell we can make a great run, I love and believe in our fuckin team. Go fucking Sens go.
Ironic you mention the leafs when you say PLAYOFFS about this team....were 11 games in and we've been overachieving why don't you wait till at least January before you start sounding like a leaf fan planning a parade cause of a mini streak
Brunnstrom Zibanejad Silfverberg.... ...that could be a scary line
Brunnstrom 6'2 212 Speed Skill
Zibby 6'2 192 Skilled 2way
Silver Surfer 6'2 190 ..Skilled 2way and 1 hell of a shot
As for Alfie, dirty hit and Wooly should get suspended. Let's see if Shanny has the guts to beat on his former team.
And yes, there is a bias amongst NHL officials. It's not perception, it is 100% bias. But it goes far higher than the ice level. How else can you explain the powderpuff schedule that the losers from Toronto got? Look at all those home games! Look at all those non-playoff teams! I fully expect Ottawa to be in the penalty box at least 4 or 5 times more than the Leafs tomorrow, and it won't be justified. I'm just praying for a win.
Lol....I am sooooo worried about this fan base... majority of you are sounding like leaf fans...I love my team A LOT but come on...we have a team of 3rd liners minus spezza alfie and mickey....oh well this only lasts until we go on a losing streak and you all start crying for the head of the GM or the Coach
Now, I just relax, sit back and wait for the save.
In Andy I trust.
(scratches head)
Get er done boys....however you do it, I guess.
GSG!
Fuck Wolski. He should get 10 games and an ass kicking from ten Sens fans with bats
I may need to hit the sauce early in the game incase it gets out of control. That way if I get mad enough at the refs and decide to throw something at the TV in anger...I have a better chance of missing and hitting the wall instead of the TV..being sauced and all.
nite all!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_eNxZN3oquw&feature=relmfu
From about 1.40 min - 2.30 min mark. Would be nice to see that worked into the Senators pre-show before the game. Think the song works well to pump everyone up.
What do you think?
30 points plus 13 in 14 games
My 2012 line-up not including are 1st rd pick this year or Noeson or Stone ...Pure Depth Skill Speed ..Did I say Skill LOL
Greening Speeza Michalek
Puempel Turris Filatov
Silverberg Zibby Alfredsson
Folingo Smith Neil
Gonchar Suter
Karlsson Cowen
Rundblad Philips
Andy
Lehner
Hacker?
Lol....I am sooooo worried about this fan base... majority of you are sounding like leaf fans...I love my team A LOT but come on...we have a team of 3rd liners minus spezza alfie and mickey....oh well this only lasts until we go on a losing streak and you all start crying for the head of the GM or the Coach
Why so worried, ZeddyP? How am I sounding like a Leaf fan? I never said A WORD about making the playoffs - I am speaking out against TANKING THE SEASON to get a top pick...From day one, all I said is I hope the Sens win every game (as any real fan would). I'm calling out the "Fail4Nail" losers, not planning a parade!
Nevermind that happened yesterday haha
Also, article in Journal de Montreal this morning saying SENS are most active team after TURRIS - saying Murray wants him for 2nd line center and that he fits perfectly into rebuild.
anyone else see some brown on Macleans nose about the refs.
I think it was a good move for PM towards them not having so much of a hate for us, hope it was effective.
I watched the leafs last night cheering for Philly, they are fast and not as much of a goon squad, at least last night.
I hope we spank them bad tonight, we both want to knock each other down a peg with a win.
Coldn't agree more. Out of all our picks this year, most of you will probably be surprised when Pageau ends up with the best career. Kid is the second coming of Giroux except he will probably need a year of AHL after junior once he bulks up. I'm calling it right now, Pageau will lead the Q in points this year, even with playing less games.
What is the size of Pageau? Doesn't he seem like he may be the next Corey Locke???
This is the reason for calling Filatov up, and we may also see Butler in the lineup, should Alfie not be ready .
31 points in 15 games...
Stefan Noessen - 12 points in 11 games
to me, Pageau seems more like a giroux-lite than a Locke upgrade !
I'm going to be cautiously optimistic about these wins. We've been playing great hockey the last five games but without Spezza we wouldn't have won any of them. The man is on a mission this year so let's hope that he stays healthy for a full 82 games. It's like coach Maclean said, Spezza's the straw that stirs the drink.
Hopefully Alfie will be okay, we really do need him. Without him we don't have a second line. Wolski better get a hefty suspension for that hit.
In regards to the Konopka hit, he did not hit him right between the numbers but it was still a dangerous play. Paul Maclean said himself that it was a dangerous play and he expects Shanahan to take a good look at it.
I can just tell we're going to hear a lot of whining by some of you tonight.
The game against the leafs tonight will be our biggest test since the Philly game. They're a young and fast team with some decent firepower and regardless of what some of you homers say, they are a pretty good team.
This is a match up between two of the most exciting teams in hockey right now and we'll get to see two Art Ross/Rocket Richard/Hart trophy favorites go head to head in Kessel and Spezza.
This is a good opportunity for Filatov now who's been seasoning in Bingo.
I really hope Neil goes after Phag-nuf and makes him pay for the Da Costa hit last game.
" I'm calling out the "Fail4Nail" losers, not planning a parade"!
Before you start running off at the mouth
Fail4Nail doesn't mean tanking the season on purpose ..It means if we end up losing we get Nail lol ... win win
Lets not get started on this again. We're all pleased with the resiliency of the Sens right now but you have to remember that we're playing a weak crop of teams right now. Prior to last night, the Rangers were having difficulties scoring goals. They were playing awful hockey. The rest of the 4 or 5 wins, our opponents have been sub-par at best.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy for our team and they do deserve these victories. However, as quickly as we are to get on this winning streak, we could easily get on an equally bad losing streak. It's just the nature of a young developing team, which for me, makes for an exciting season.
Tonights going to be our hardest test. The leafs forechecking is going to be relentless though. You know how well the Sens play when they're getting viciously for-checked.
