Bobby Butler is healthy but will once again be on the sidelines. He has fully recovered from a groin injury but with the Sens playing well, will have to wait for a chance to draw back in. Same thing goes for Brian Lee who is a healthy scratch on defence.
The Sens did not skate this morning but expect them to go with the same combinations as the other night against the Panthers.
Greening-Spezza-Michalek
Foligno-Da Costa-Alfredsson
Daugavins-Smith-Neil
Winchester-Konopka-Condra
Cowen-Gonchar
Kuba-Karlsson
Phillips-Rundblad
Craig Anderson gets the nod for the Senators. Ottawa has recalled Robin Lehner to dress as the back up with Alex Auld unavailable. No word on what is wrong with Auld but the call up is considered temporary.
A reminder this is an early start today with puck drop coming shortly after 3:00 PM. All the action can be seen live on CBC's Hockey Night in Canada or on the radio at Team1200.
also hope Anderson plays lights out tonight.

Atleast catch the 2:00 min - 2:30 min span...of the video....wish they could take a page from that for pumping the crowd up before a game at SBP.
Thanks again for the link streamer.
Go sens go
A big test tonight against NYR lets hope they are still tired from the long road trip to start their season - Go Sens Go!
Ha! I'm an idiot, I got that link from twitter.
here it is though;
http://ht.ly/7cP9R
I hope it works
thanks for the link! Glad Filitov is alright, nasty, nasty hit. Lehner is a beauty, cant wait till he's our starter
pretty nasty hit...I love lehners fire, that being said the last goalie we had who had some character was run out of town.
I don't think Razor was run out of town for being willing to drop the gloves, it was more for being willing to buy **** for groups of **** every night of the week. And dragging Spezza and others along with him.
I don't think anyone is going to mind Lehner being passionate - outside of not wanting him to injure himself when we have guys like Carkner and Konopka for that.
Emery has character? Thought they called that addiction...
He did his part for sure and I actually don't hate the guy at all. But he hardly "led" us there. The Pizza line was as big a part and the rest of the team played well too. If even half the rumors floating around are true it was in our best interest to let him go though. Fair or not, he was a distraction.
7-1 Leafs
Power plays that is.
Once again the Leafs are near the top in PP chances, and more importantly is when they get their PP chances. They always get their PP chance when they are down by one and need one-usually in the last 5 minutes.
Add to that they are aloud to hook, hold, slash and kill the other team with nothing called.
Sorry for the negative rating there. I actually threw up in my mouth when I read 7-1 leafs! I couldn't read any further cause I thought you were a leafs fan trolling. My apologies...
Nevermind on that statement. But come on Daugy keep at it.
LOL
It was more to the side, but still a hit from behind type call.
Good call from the refs.
Sens can kill this off, let's got Penalty Kill!
Pussy refs!
I agree as per the new rule its a penalty..but Konopka obviously made an effort to mpt hit from behind.
The "victim" is on the power-play??????
Still think it's a good call, folks?
Easy call to make. I still dont know why we even acquired Konopka, he's dirty and useless...
Have to agree with Tookie here.
May not have been TOTALLY a hit from behind, but c'mon, if that was one of our players we would be all over that shit. It was a dangerous hit.
Yes its a clear cut call to make, I'm willing to bet he'll get suspended for that too.
I really hope we see Lehner tomorrow.
I think in any other game in the league that same call would have been made.
So it would be ok if Anisimov was paralyzed??
Come on man, give yer head a shake...
I'll take that bet - no suspension and you're on sabbatical from the SensChirp boards for 1 week. If ZK gets suspended beyond the game ejection he didn't deserve I'll take a week off.
Should have been 2 minutes and that's it.
Our guy took the same hit. He didn't roll all over the ice pretending to be injured, thus not getting us a 5 minute powerplay. Its a penalty for sure, but I don't understand how the exact same hit in the first period was a 2 minute penalty. They both turned late and were driven into the boards.
what a stupid comment...so you want calls to be called strictly based on the result?? give me a break
Watch it again, 42 clearly turns before contact. This whole "he didn't know he was there" shit is driving me crazy. You are playing hockey, expect to be hit when you have the puck, DONT TURN YOUR BACK.
I agree you can't really compare the two plays that much and I sure don't think the Ranger was "milking it" nor does the fact of him being injured or not come into play (or it shouldn't).
But the hit was from a blind side but not dirty. Not late, not leaving his feet, not to the head, ZK did try to get to the side instead of the numbers. He should have absolutley got 2 min - but that's it.
LMAO, same hit, haha, Gonchar turned last second and got nailed, no way Boyle can let up, that was all on Gonchar...Hell even our own announcers said it, haha.
Anisimov was in that position the whole time, always looking at the boards trying to get the puck and got blindsided...
Even Maclean was ok with it...
I know... how can such a truculent team get so few penalties and some many PP's?
So why did Boyle not get a 5 min hitting from behind on Gonchar? Because Gonchar got up right away? He should have 'sold it'.
It was a 5 min penalty because it was Konopka. It's not the first time his stupid penalties have cost this team... and it won't be the last. Bring in Butler.
I have to disagree. The call on the Gonchar call was correct. Gonchar turned but Boyle should have tried to hold up instead of just hitting him in the numbers - 2 min was correct. But ZK should have help up too since he couldn't get around him like he tried to. So ZK should have gotten 2 min as well.
Anisimov was in that position the whole time, always looking at the boards trying to get the puck and got blindsided...
you said it yourself tookie. anisimov should have had his head up instead of looking at the boards. Kind of the same recklessness as gonchar. konopka and anisimov both need to be a bit more responsible but konopka did not deserve 5 mins in my opinion. but then again tookies opinion is the only one that matters.
No...thats the point, Anisimov doesnt have to keep his head up, he knows he shouldnt get hit when he's vulnerable....i ts a rule to protect players from idiot 4th liners....
C'mon Took - there's no rule that says players don't have to keep their head up. Your usually much smarter in your posts (a jerk for sure, but at least a little intelligent).
BTW - still waiting to see if you really were "winning to bet".
Game getting ugly
For once I agree with you. Still no actual bet though??
he doesnt have to keep his head up? this is still a contact sport. when you have the puck you still have to play with some responsibility or you are going to get hurt. im pretty sure that was the same justification for gonchars hit wasnt it?
i dont thikn youve ever played contact hockey have you
That was a blatant elbow to the head. Went out of his way to do that. I would sure like the refs thoughts on why that was not 5 and a game... We will see if Shanahan does anything...
My guess Konopka gets suspended & Wolski won't.
The difference in this game... the 5 min major.
ZK got screwed.
The haters have no clue man, no clue...
Why does this seem like its becoming a regular thing? Sens getting the shitty end of the stick with the reffing? no way...
Because the refs didnt see it, the linesman made the call, and therefore cannot make it a 5 minute major, lucky the linesman saw it...
I'll agree with you there, I tried to comment earlier on a "spezza is playing bad" quote but it didn't go through. He is our offense.
TIE GAME WOOO
you may be right i just dont really care to look it up but i was always under the impression that linesman cannot call minors. only majors or doubleminors
Correct
Wow, I feel dirty for typing that.
Sorry everyone - I take it back.
They may be able to call the "contact to the head" as well too, but the rule is major and double minors, as well as too many men.
i think what sens fans need to realize is that all the top danglers on every team makes these mistakes. the thing is we only see the nice moves on the highlights. spezza is going to turn over the puck everygame but its worth it when he buries two goals in a game or can pull off a highlight reel goal.
With the way they were playing I thought... it's over at 4 - 1. The play was all Rangers at that point.
But this team never says were done... nice comeback to even get the point.
Just think -- Anderson has stopped 9 straight shootout tries. That's incredible.
Filatov probably won't be available after taking that hit last night.
Who would they call up tomorrow? Hoffman?
I love this team and the heart.
You guys that don't think we make the playoffs are going to suck it.
They may not end up over .500 after all is said and done but I bet nearly every game is exciting and fun to watch.
Filatov came back and played in the 3rd period after that disgusting hit.
i dont think konopka gets anything.. bad call. wolski i think might get sometihng. and as for call ups, your forgetting butler is a healthy scratch, i assume he will be dressing up tomorrow.
ZK shouldn't get suspended. The 5 and a game was too much on its own. Though if Shanny throws the book at Wolski he may feel he has to give ZK a game to balance it out.
And yeah, Filatov should be available from what I've read. Or dress 7 D perhaps?
Yes he did... but against the advice of the team. He complained of a headache which is understandable after he landed face first on the ice.
Say again...
