Sens Send Six Back to Junior

As I mentioned on Twitter earlier this morning, the Ottawa Senators have begun the process of trimming down their training camp roster and sent six players back to their junior teams.

Jordan Fransoo, Jakub Culek, Stefan Noesen, Matt Puempel, Mark Stone and Matej Machovsky are among the first group of cuts.

It's unfortunate that only Stone had a chance to get in to an exhibition game but there is no need to rush any of them.  The club wants to make sure that these guys are playing as much as possible this time of year and they have a better chance to do that with their junior teams.

The Sens are now left with 53 players in camp.

  • Shane Prince, who will end up in Junior this season, will remain in camp for at least another day. He could see action tomorrow against the Bruins
  • Mentioned this on Twitter as well but I have been told that the club is considering voiding the voting results of recent Vote the Sens Goal Song contest.  Probably the right move. Just a good idea gone bad.
  • Sounding like a broken record here, but I do apologize for the issues with the site. Working hard to make sure everything is ready to go in time for the regular season. In the meantime, I encourage you to email your suggestions/issues/concerns to This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . It will help us find out exactly what the problem is.
  • Keep an eye out for a contest for two tickets to the preseason game against the Bruins at some point tonight or tomorrow!  The tickets are courtesy of friend of SensChirp, Mike McCarthy.  He's also the guy to see for all your ticket needs and can be reached at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. • The Sens need our help! Head over to the Facebook page and fight the movement Leafs fans have started to vote Nickleback as the new goal song. Go with the Black Keys!

Sounds like a sequel to "Walk the Blue Line: The Erik Karlsson Story" is on tap tomorrow night

A very interesting forward line up. I can't wait to see the game tomorrow. Kaspars is going to have an epic game too. Just a gut feeling.

No Lessards for this game, I expect there was some embarassment from the last game being the only offence we had was defence guys.

could also be Maclean wants to see what he really has to work with.

for sure the performance the other night scared a lot of people.

Good that Kuba is playing again, lots of rope to hang himself as far as reason to let him go.

Or make himself even more immovable(if that is somehow possible)

Lets just say if Cowan goes back to bingo and Kuba stays that is just wrong on so many levels.

Kaspars Daugavins was the guy the pumped up the locker room during the playoffs I was told. He is a real good talker, leader and motivator so I think he will be in the Sens uniform soon enough. He can score, he can pass, he can play a solid 2 way game. This guy is the complete package. Maybe not this season, but next season I could see him possibly making the team out of camp and playing a bottom 6 role.

i think Daug has a pretty good following here in ottawa.

Unfortunately he may be the victim of a numbers game especially in the bottom 6. Would love to see him have a big game though.

I'm also looking forward to seeing Condra, I see them as similar players in alot of ways.

I think Kuba will be showcased this pre season. There are teams that still could use a defenseman to fill out their rosters like Columbus, Edmonton, Florida, Rangers ect. so Kuba could be traded if he shows some flashes at training camp, also same probably goes for Carkner and Lee, though I think Lee will stay with the team myself. Carkner is an enforcer with fair defence abilities, so a team like Detroit could use him to help bring some fight to their team possibly, but who knows we will just have to see how it plays out. Cowen will make the team out of camp though I am sure.

exactly what I have been saying since last year.
Gyrba, Lee, and even Smith or Benoit, should have all played ahead of Kuba. They were all better.
No way can I stomach watching Kuba make mistake after mistake, his embarrassing lack of physical play, and lack of skating for another year. Bite the bullet, 2 wrongs do not make a rigth, and punishing Lee last year nearly ruined his career!

not that I dont believe you but isn't their a roster limit, even for pre-season action. I doubt our bench can fit 15 forwards (5 lines), 8 defense and 3 goalies lol
