I don't know about the rest of you but I have never had a night quite like that one.
The Parise goal was absolutely crippling. I should have known though. A Crosby overtime winner was in the cards from puck drop and Sid delivered in a big way.
Our country's shining moment...
GO CANADA GO

DANY HEATLEY complaining again after GOLD MEDAL WIN over USA
http://www.youtube.com/user/OttawaGh0st#p/u/0/cmb_oH_5CIc
Congrats To All the Canadian Athletes who participated in the Vancouver.
14 GOLD MEDALS!!!! a new Olympic Record.
And the icing on the "golden" cake is the Men's Hockey Gold!! WAY TO GO CANADA!!
Now back to focusing on the Senators and their quest for Lord Stanley's CUP!
It was a great early birthday present for me!
The Scriptures have been fulfilled with an overtime goal by Sidney Crosby!
I sucked yeah, but once the overtime started it was clear we had learned from the World Jr. Championships and had found a way to create offense four on four without giving anything up. They dominated the entire OT and gave the USA nothing while creating chances. Not sure I've ever seen a four on four played that well.
That game was so intense!!! I was shaking for the last minute, then when parise scored i almost cried! Haha i was so scared, but i knew Sid would win it for us, as soon as we went to OT, i told my parents and my brother that it would be Sid :)
Congrats to Canada and everyone!
We were absolutely golden!
HEHE!
Now though....
Go Sens Go! We want the cup!
I'll remember that moment 'till the day I die. I've never been more proud to say I AM CANADIAN!
Awesome game! Have to give kudos to the US, they had a great tournament and there is defintely a bright future to US hockey. Hopefully in the next 4 years someone pulls Kesler aside and teaches him some manners! Man have I come to despise him after this tournament...don't tink our boys faded in the third or better yet OT in the gold medal game did they Ryan!!??!!!
How about Drew Doughty?!!! WOW!! I have to admit I was questioning Niedermeyer's age at the start of the tourney but I sure came to eat my words! Proud to be a Canadian this morning this morning. Great job by ALL of our athletes as well as Vancouver and the Olympic Committee! WELL DONE!
Crosby doesn't show up for the 3 biggest games yet when he scores the overtime winner, hes Canada's hero... thats retarded!! How about Rick Nash? Neidermeyer? Perry? heck even Luongo who pretty much changed things up for this team. Crosby got the puck on his stick off a beauty pass from Iginla, hes no hero
I was among those questioning Pronger's role after that US game, but I have to admit, at clutch time he looked pretty good...in typical Canadian fashion, I was going to add a caveat about the t4team here, but the glare from the gold must have erased it.
Good job boys.
I can't believe what a poor sport Ron Wilson is. Check out his comments: its too bad the best team didn't win (or something like that) - its on NHL.com. Shut up Wilson. You got beat.
Well that was a fun ride and glad we came threw in the end.
That being said, can we get back to Sens talk please? There is just way to much going on in these next 48-72 hours.
Trade Rumors, who's healthy, whats the deal with Volchenkov, who's in goal on Tuesday...etc etc etc...
eeeeek, there are some rumors floating around that Ward to Ottawa is a done deal, what have you heard Chirp? This would of been a good move 5 years ago but not now.
OK lets forget the Olympics - and let's win a CUP. GO SENS GO!
THe SENS are the all important team in this guy's life.
GO ALFIE!
C'mon Murray do your best to go get us a D-man and then we're set!
drew doughty honestly looks like like the best defenseman in the world right now
So happy that Crosby was on a mission from pass he took at centre ice, trying to split the USA defense, chasing the puck along the boards, quick pass to Iginla, who got knocked down after set up pass to Crosby, who quicly shot it through Miller's legs for the winner !!
USA also played a fantastic game, and never gave up, so the ending was a real Classic Crosby Signature
Gold Medal Goal !!
Robert Cyr
I agree Big Mac, Nieds definitely fed my doubt back to me by the shovel full.
I thought Langenbrunner was a bit of a bit of a knob on the ice as well.
Either way "If there's a goal everyone remembers it was back in 2010, we all squeezed our sticks, we all pulled the trigger, Canada screamed 'its gold again'". - Gord et al with my twist.
Seeing the streets of Ottawa celebrating after that win reminded me of beating buffalo to get to the finals, or winning game 3.
Seeing that reaction just made me want that stanley cup 10 times more!!!!!!
GO SENS GO!
Tear.... time to update my Salt Lake City poster of the men and womens gold medal winning teams... SIDNEYYYYYYYYYYY!
Couldnt of beat that ending... so perfect!
hey sens fans,
scratch leopold off the possible defensive additions list, he goes to pittsburgh. Hopefully we see the names of hamhuis, robidas, seidenberg, michalek or dare i say it WEBER in a sens trade before wednesdays deadline. Please no old slow guys like Ward, might as well get kyle mclaren.
C-Mac
My absolute favourite quote came from yesterday's closing ceremony.
"Alexandre, your first Gold Medal gave us all permission to feel like and behave liek champions. Our last one will be remembered for generations." - John Furlong VANOC CEO
Time to shift gears abd get back to what makes Senschirp such an important site.
No Rest for the wicked!
Leopold off the market, traded to Pittsburg...Any truth to the Ward to Ottawa rumors Chirp? I hope not.
Strike one off the list...Leopold to Penguins.
That Heatley bit is priceless!!! Who ever put that together deserves an Oscar.
Other than that, am I the only one that is no more than moderately excited about this victory? I mean it was nice to win but with all the talent on that team, anything less would have been a MASSIVE failure.
In my opinion this win pales in comparison to 87 and probably 72 (don't know because I was a couple of months old).
I mean, those two series it was us against the evil russians. Evenly matched in talent and games that could have gone either way. The best played like the best for both teams.
Anyway, I'm happy for the athletes because they take home the record for gold medals after that gold and it reflects well on ALL Canadian athletes. Sucks for the women's hockey team because the men sucked away a lot of their well deserved attention. Glad Sid scored, couldn't have happened to a nicer kid.
Canada/USA final, Sidney Crosby with the OT winner...who writes this stuff?! Great game, will remember watching Sid score that goal for years to come, awsome.
CHIRP, Jordan Leopold traded... guess ottawa aint geting him. Whats the deal with rumors of shean donovan being shipped?
Scott Niedermayer and Pronger definitely looked good in that gold game, most of which Pronger surprised me the most, who I will admit I was ripping on earlier. But I really never expected Niedermayer to be THAT good, as he was in both the semi and finals. Congrats to Canada, and really happy to see Jumbo Joe suck because we all knew he would.
Awsome game! great olympics, every Canadian should be proud!
We danced in the streets chanting GO! Canada Go!
This will be a great memory to all.
Wow wat a special olympics, i will never forget them !!!!!!! Nothing quite like routing for the whole country rather than just ur city. So sad to see them go but i'll get over it once our boys hit the ice again ... plus big, exciting day wednesday (hopefully) :)
here's to hoping the nhl hosts scrimage games for canada, usa, sweden, russia, slovak, and finland games at the end of the nhl season each year in a small multi city tornament for nhlers
Sweeter than sweet, an ending we will remember for the rest of our lives. It was an amazing ride, and I was glad to have taken part. GO CANADA GO!!!
Relax all you crosby hater, if that was Bergeron who got the game winner, he would be the hero too
Just because sid didnt hit the score sheet every game doesnt mean he didnt work hard , or wasnt effective.
He took on more of the old sid playmaker role, and if those sets up didnt hit the net, not his fault
Watched the game with over 200 Canadians in a crazy sports bar in Dublin, Ireland. The place was packed and the crowd was sooo loud.
Did anyone else have similar experiences abroad?
What a memory...
