Not Pretty

Talk about a waste of great seats! Sat a few rows from the ice tonight but obviously didn't like what I saw.

Team looked flat from the get go. Chalk it up to Olympic rust, I guess.

Tomorrow should be a fun day though. Stick with SensChirp for everything trade deadline related.

Until tomorrow...

Rust...cuz the Rangers weren't off for 2 weeks. Also, they didn't have their best player tonight. Seriously, wtf was that...

I hate starting after breaks with a loss, it demotivates the team. The only good thing right now is that Thursday the Sens play the Canes (which is a lot harder team to play right now) and then I get to go see the Sens play the Leafs (get to see the new Senators, hopefully there will be others other than Cullen/Sutton...)

GO SENS GO...but wow was that embarrassing...Hopefully Foligno returns soon

To Cullen,
WAKE UP!!!!

I think Volch just dug himself a huge hole in terms of leverage with contact talks. He apparently isnt happy with the dollar amount but he didnt build a strong case with his play today (even the olympics). He doesnt have the "rust" excuse and he was just awful. I will add that all the D looked bad and were backing up way too far on even man rushes. Volch ... just resign for 3 mill or dont let the door hit u on the way out.

according to Bob McKenzie, Murray is done, lets hope not, i don't want to see A-Train walk for nothing, seeing as our chances for a cup just went down about 50%(from whatever chance we had) with Pittsburgh getting Ponikarovsky.

Can we forget this game?

Not a great all around effort tonight

I'm sure the boys will bounce back for next game

go sens go!!

Watch there be like 50 ppl saying that the sens won't make it far in the playoffs cuz of this loss...LOL!!

Volchie, didn't look to good without his usually defence partner tonight, Elliot's goaltending certainly didn't help. Hopefully Murray gets a deal done, but overpaying would be a far worse decision, if Anton is seeking Komaserick money the Sens have to let him go. I can't see Murray moving the guy after trading away two 2nd rounders to go for it this year.

Great commentary on tonight's game. I left the building with about 12 minutes left in the game. Do you know if Filip Kuba's injury is serious? Also, do you think the A-Train will resign or be moved tomorrow. Keep up the great work. Thank you

Bad from the get-go? I disagree. The first period was good. Good hustle from Spezza, and a couple of posts.

Bad luck. we'll recover. I gotta say, from a distance here in Vancouver, I see the fair weather attitudes uninspiring. We are a good team, and even good teams have off nights.

These are still our Sens, and we're still kicking ass.

Murray won't get fired, because he is awesome. He will sign Volchenkov, because he is awesome. The Sens will win, because they are awesome. Sens fans will rejoice, because we are awesome.

- the comeback on the island thats 3 straight crap games

Come playoffs they better find the zen they had during the streak beacuse if they get bounced early tossin them 2nds out for an early exit is going to sting!!

GET A GUY FOR THE PP Brian do not sit on your hands tommorow

we're still gonna win the cup, f*** everyone else

Well said Mike.

Actually thought Elliott made some big saves early on to keep them in the game.

It's such a different game though when you sit so close. Hard to say much about the game in general when all you can really see is the specific.

Although, I can definitely see why people hate Sean Avery. I was annoyed just watching the guy.

I would like to add another option to the "deadline" poll Chirp.

Trade some of the extra forwards we have for some youth. Check

Stinky last two periods for sure but Karlsson looked good all night (played the body even). Spezza was even physical. A few positives but hopefully a blip.

Any update on Kuba?

At least there's a little more leg room on the bandwagon today.

BTW - what's with the two Hab fan/douchebags behind the Rangers bench? Leaf-fan disease is spreading to Hab fans now? They have nothing better to do than go to a Sens/Rangers game and cheer against Ottawa?

Was at the game and was a little disappointed in the last 2 periods. Alot of offensive turnovers and just sloppy play all around.
I dont blame the game entirely on Elliot .. the D line seemed to be lost and the turnovers didnt help.
Im glad the game is over and we can focus on the next game. Im looking forward to seeing Sutton play and cant wait to go to the game on Sat vs the leafs.
I have every faith that Murray will keep Volchenkov after all he's the A Train from O Town.
In regards to Kuba its being classified as a lower body injury and will be looked at tomorrow. Clouston didnt elaborate further on that.

I like the addition of Sutton, but I don't think Murray is done. I think the situation with A-train is why Murray pulled the trigger on the Sutton deal tonight rather than waiting until tomorrow.

A shutdown Dman like Sutton (who's a great shot blocker) gives Murray the ability to move A-train tomorrow, should the right deal be worked out.

We need powerplay help. That could come in the form of a puck moving D or a forward.

Some rumours out there are Ryan Whitney for A-train

there's a 3 team trade rumour on Sensay, that is intriguing

and a deal of Boyes&Coliacavo for Volchenkov, Lee and Shannon OR Winchester.

Likelyhood of any of those deals going through are slim...but interesting none the less.

My guess is some nice scalper took them for a ride. At least that's what I'd like to think- stupid Habs fans being screwed over.

I would like to see Murray get a youth player someone who is a rfa this summer.

I would like to see Murray get one of Eric Fehr or Andrew Ladd before 3pm.

It was a lousy game. The Sens looked like a team that missed the memo that break time was over. Unfortunate to get off on a bad foot but hopefully they will correct it quickly.

It just wasn't a particularly intense effort from anybody. Very little physical play, not a lot of sharpness, and plenty of ill-timed passes and blown coverages in the defensive end. Pretty forgetable game really.

Ever since Montreal has become competitive (for like 5 minutes - in 2 minute chunks) Habs fans have become as bad as Leafs fans. Probably worse if you ask me.

They invade the Bank as much as the Leaf fans do but they antagonize way more with their panzy european chant or by singing the nah-nah-nah goodbye song (usually if they are up by one somewhere in the first).

Then there's the never ending comments about their 24 cups (most of which were obtained in a 6 team league) by people who weren't even alive to see more than the 93 Cup (when they were 2)

The sooner Sens fans see the similarities between Habs nation and Leafs nation, or that Habs fans are worse, the sooner we can have an even better rivalry IMO.

Couldn't see the game last night. Kuba injured? Ouch... That's not promising for our D corp in the final stretch.

Couple of names that still remain an option for Murray based on rumours:

Ryan Whitney (according to the poster above)
John-Michael Liles (according to the Fourth Period)
Robidas (according to SC)

Any of these three could help.

The fisher cullen kovalev line was useless

I hope murray is still planning on getting a good power play offensive defenseman. While I think karlsson has been great, that is not enough. And if kuba is injured long term, then are only puck mover is karlsson. Cause campoli is out long term.

The 1st period result was nice, and Spezza's pass to Michalek on the goal was very solid. In fact, Spezza was one of the few guys who had a reasonably good game.

Kelly, Volchenkov, Carkner, Lee, Alfredsson, Fisher, these were your major goats tonight folks.

HOWEVER, this loss is NOT indicative of how good this team is. They looked really rusty, but judging by the way the T-1000 left the bench last night, you should expect to see a much better effort in Carolina on Thursday.

Let's not all jump off the bandwagon yet folks, remember that Buffalo lost last night too, so the Senators are still 1st in the division.

You know what I hated the lines.

Alfie should be with Fisher and (Foligno)Kelly for now.

Spez with Michalek and Cullen

Kovie-Regin-Shannon

And

Winchester-Ruutu-Neal

Oh and is Karlsson amazing or what!!!

Lets Go BOYS!

one loss time for everyone to hit the panic button. defence looked out of sync forwards trying to many passes.
after a long break you need to simplify the game, your passes won't be as crisp.they just needed shots all the time. which obviously didnt happen i think they only got 26ish.
and as for the defence, kuba left after the 1st so CC had to rotate his D which involved pairings that maybe didnt have chemistry and that was evident tonight as well.

lets not forget guys this was the best team in the league before the break give them some time to get their heads back in the game.
oh and for the record the rangers looked rusty at times too. but their goalie played recently and usually has a bounce back game after a bad one(slovakia) as for ells he looked like a goalie that hasnt seen puck in a while.

lets have some faith here go sens go

I agree with Anon @ 4:35am. Cullen - Fisher - Kovalev line has got to be better. I did see Cullen makes some nice plays and I like that we picked him up. Fisher was pretty silent, he must be tired from spending the last two weeks with Carrie.

I really hope they don't plan on playing Brian Lee in the playoffs. He made a ton of bad decisions last night.

A bad bounce or occasional give-away is one thing but he seems to make the wrong decision on a regular basis. He was directly responsible for at least one of the goals last night, forcing Volchie's hand.

Any word on Kuba's Injury?

No1FisherFan said...

You cant blame the game on the fact that they were on a break for 17 days as all 40 teams were on that same break and the Rangers did NOT play like the Sends.
If anything the Sens should've been hungry for the win and setting their eyes on that franchise goal of most wins in a row at home. It was just poor hockey all around and there's no excuse for it.
And I cannot see them moving Volchenkov. Hes such a core part of the team and it doesnt make sense to chip at the core. It makes more sense to add instead.
