The Senators continue their West Coast swing tonight at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary. Ottawa turned in a solid performance in Edmonton the other night and will look to keep it going against the Iginla and the Flames.
Calgary is fighting for their playoff lives right now and should provide a real tough test for Ottawa.
While there was talk about Foligno and possibly Kuba joining the Sens on this road trip, that is now pretty unlikely. Sounds like both guys could be ready to go when the Sens return to Ottawa next week.
Here are the lines from the morning skate in Calgary...
Michalek-Spezza-Alfredsson
Regin-Fisher-Kovalev
Donovan-Cullen-Neil
Ruutu-Winchester-Shannon
Chris Kelly did not take the skate this morning but according to Ian Mendes will play against the Flames.
Brian Elliott will make his second straight start.
Pretty cool stat to keep an eye on tonight. Anton Volchenkov is currently sitting at 999 career blocked shots. Although it's still a relatively new stat, 1000 blocked shots is truly an amazing number. Congrats to A-Train...
Puck drop is at 9:30 PM or 11:00 PM Newfoundland time. Gonna be a late night for me!
GO SENS GO!

I guess this means PL is playing Saturday in vancouver. I heard Millard/Maclean talking about today. I know Elliott has been better of the two this year. Their are a lot of reasons for Pl's inconsistency but i reall yhtink this guy needs a few starts. That doesnt mean more than Elliott either. Leclaire will be needed at some point, I find it frustrating having a guy with Pls potential and pedigree on the bench all the time.
I agree with anon 2:28. PL should get some starts. The good news is that I'll likely be seeing him live here in Vancouver on Saturday. I'll be the guy wearing the old peace tower jersey.
Go Sens tonight!
GO SENS GO!! I have a feeling spezza will snipe one tonight, he is looking so strong lately.
i disagree with the decision to start Elliott - i would have gone with Mike Brodeur
or Andrew Ladd
You should try watching the games in Sweden. Even the east coast games start at 1:30 AM.
I'm gonna be there tonite and be rowdy as hell for our boys!!!
On my way to the game right now Chirp and lads. 26 of us small town Fernie"ights" will be taking out a huge section of the shit seats. Got my Chanks jersey on to watch this milestone go down. Thanks for the heads up. I have lost a texas mickey to this match up for the last 7 years. Finally because of the big win at the bank earlier this year, i have a chance to finally put one in my gut.
With all the excitment of this game for me I think the most exciting part is going to see King Karls do his thing live. That and just being in the presence of Cory.
Go Sens! Let's put this one on our Win Colum!
Andrew Ladd plays goal???
Got my jersey on at work (old black Sens 3rd) and ready for the game tonight! See you all there, GO SENS GO!
In baby. So in.
Mike Brodeur should get some starts with the big team down the stretch so he can be ready for a long playoff run!
Leclaire is playing in Vancouver? Why would Clouston throw a game? He can just say: "Well, the road trip continues after our next homegame" and start him at some point in the future.
Elliott is the man. Go with him as he is the one that will lose or win a playoff series for us.
Go Sens!
While it would be nice to have both goalies playing well heading into the playoffs, I just have no faith in PL. We cannot afford the luxury of giving PL the start for the bulk of games, hoping he'll get into gear. We ride with Elliott. He's the better goalie right now. If PL wants his starting job back, he'll have to earn it the hard way.
Go Sens!
Hey Chirp - who do you see coming out of the line up when Foligno comes back?
Pengrowth update: Just Saw Ryan Mcgill outside the dome. He seemed threatened by me and my jersey. The whole building seems nervous. One girl working in the offices was sobbing. She was trying to hide it from me so it wasn't a full cry. But you can only imagine how bad it got after I left. Most of the women working the ticket booth seemed desperate and starved for effection.
Chanks is not a nick name, it's stupid. just stop!
The Winchester/Donovan platoon will stop when Foligno comes back. Not hard to figure that one out. The other conceivable option is Shannon and we all know that CC thinks highly of him.
The only way I will accept HP's continued use of "Chanks" is if he has it on his jersey. Otherwise, please cease and desist.
Same goes for "Karls".
Who the F*** is Chanks?
According to the urban dictionary, "Chanks" is actually a racial slur.
Chirp - I propose you add it to your list of "automatic reject" words.
Hey Chirp - where are you watching it in St. John's?
I can't wait for Chanks to get his 1,000th blocked shot tonight. Chanks 4 life! I also hope Chanks crushes Iguana with a massive open ice hit and scores a hat trick on Kopris.
Not sure where to watch in St. John's. Kind of a later start out here!
Oh ya and Harry, I like a lot of what you contribute to this site but what is with Chanks?
I really think we need to let that go haha
Remember this day. Where were you when Volchenkov blocked his 1000th shot?
Could save your life on some trivia show.
Remember the world junior final where we all chanted "P.K. P.K" as karlsson watched his gold medal dreams wash away in his soon to be home rink? Its time we showed him our appreciation with the "E.K. E.K" chant when the guys get home next week.
C-Mac
Fortunately, Pubey only addresses "Chirp and lads" in his post, so we ladies can ignore his nicknaming!
Hax:
You are so out of it...Brian Elliott mis-spoke being interviewed and called Erik "Karl!" not Karls and it stuck with the players...that's how you get one that sticks!
Go Sens Go! Shut down Iggy's line and we're good baby! Keep it up Cullen! Sutton will staple people tonight.
can we please get a goalie coach that can show these goalies how to play the puck.... so many goals this year because elliot and leclaire cant play the puck for shit
Ohhh... that looked like a good goal to me.
PS. what a softie by Elliott... Good job buds!
Wow,
What a bad call on that "NO GOAL". Michalek's stick was below the cross-bar. Is this punishment for Neil for telling the truth about thye Whitney hits the other night.
Can the Sens hit the NET????!!!!!
NEXT SENS PRACTICE...TARGET PRACTICE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Another powerplay for the sens and no shots...how frustrating!
Flames D was way better than ours tonight...plus they have a topnotch tender...lets hope we can get something done on Saturday. Night folks, tired of watching this crap.
Sens will NOT make the playoffs, BOOK IT!
good in fact i hope we loose so you stop watching and filling this place with your crap.....as for the ppl bashing elliott for a 2-0 game....the sedins will pick pascal apart , and you can book that!!!
anon 10;55, your entitles to your opinion buddy, thats cool. the verdict on Pl isnt out yet because of many reasons. You throw Pl under the bus as soon as anyone chirps your number tender in Elliott. I want the goalie who gives us a best chance to win. Elliott has done very well, but in MY opinion Pl still deserves a chance to challenge for the job.Key word here (CHALLENGE) Elliott didnt have to do much last night and the first goal was ugly. Let PL get a start on HNIC and then judge him after his game. I dont get why ppl are so negative with this guy. He is still young mind you.
We will make the playoffs...we have 79 points and need 12-14 points to make it, come on.
Now, it would probably be better for the team if we lost early, that way Murray is one step closer to leaving and the youth movement can start.
