Checking in from Goose Bay!
Sorry for the late post today but I've been doing quite a bit of running around for work.
As I'm sure you've heard, Brian Elliott will get the start for the Sens tonight in Edmonton. Clouston said Leclaire can expect a game on this road trip but he's making a pretty strong statement by going with Elliott tonight.
Leclaire is coming off his first quality start in awhile and some were suggesting he may get the ball for a little bit. Obviously not the case.
Shean Donovan comes out of the line up tonight and Jesse Winchester draws back in. Here are the lines from the skate this morning...
Michalek-Spezza-Alfredsson
Regin-Fisher-Kovalev
Kelly-Cullen-Neil
Ruutu-Winchester-Shannon
I'd ask readers where a good place to watch a game in Goose Bay is but I'm thinking my options are pretty limited. Going to be in St. John's tomorrow to Sunday though so if anyone knows any good spots there, I'm all ears!
Puck drop is 10:30 PM, Goose Bay Time....I think.....
GO SENS GO!!

Great move by Clouston, this team needs points badly and we can't squander those by starting Leclaire.
Elliott is clearly the man from hereon on, go Sens!
I just googled "Goose Bay pubs" and Mulligan's Pub came out, don't shoot the messenger though haha! :)
Rumour that both Mike Brodeur and Cheechoo are not having such a great week in Bingo....
(Sorry Chirp, just stirring the pot a bit)
Go Sens, Go Pascal
Wow so Elliot gets in when he takes over for a guy playing well and plays well for 1 game after playing like crap but when Leclaire does the same thing he doesn't get put back in! Are you kidding me! He earned this start CC is playing favorites here.
9:30 our time, so ya i would assume. Kinda was hoping to see Leclaire in nets, but I'm expecting a win tonight. We better be good!! lol
Go Sens Go!
SC - check out Don Cherry's while you're in St. John's. Best sports pub spot I can think of off the top of my head. Maybe somewhere on George St. too, but not many sports places down there.
Beware the Laffs and Habs fans while you're there though - they'll eat a Senator alive!
GO SENS GO!!!
In.
All I can say, after seeing the 7 regular players,, on the Oilers' roster, who are out of lineup with various injuries, truly give us a big edge in winning the game !
Hope Elliott regains his groove, and helps Sens get 2 points tonite .

Isn't NFLD 90 minutes ahead of EST?
In.
If it's in Nfld and it's 9:30 eastern time then it should be 11pm nfld time.
So dumb, Leclaire stole that point and earned a second straight start.
Bad coaching decision going with his favorite whos getting over the flu instead of the goalie who stood on his head last game.
If goose bay goes by the same time St johns goes wouldnt it be another half hour off making it 11? im not sure though
The oilers are doing quite well lately so those thinking this is a cakewalk will be shocked when it turn out to be a close game. (not sure who im leaning towards)
GO SENS
Clouston believes in Elliott and is ignoring their salaries and treating Elliott like he's the #1 guy. Leclaire had his first good game in a long time Saturday, but obviously Clouston thinks he'll need to do more to wrestle the #1 job away from Elliott and I have no problems with this.
Actually, it more like 11pm on the Rock.
And there's a gentleman's club on George, I'm sure there will be plenty to see there. :D
Opinions please: why is Shannon on the 4th line instead of Dono? I mean isn't he teeny-tiny for a fourth line? Does he offer something that Dono doesn't?
Tim
Not starting Leclaire is absolutely ridiculous!
This is how to kill a goalies confidence 101 by Cory Clouston
Last time I was in Goose Bay, the pub for the British soldiers on the base was the best ... but that was 1990.
My view: Clouston is a tactician trying to divert attention away from the team and onto himself so that they can go on this crucial road trip with less focus on their poor play after the break. Risky if Elliot stinks it up, but assuming he can read his goalies right and this doesn't undermine Leclaire, I say more power to him - he's the coach.

I think it's about time kelly sits out a game or two..
moving shannon 3rd line left wing and Dono 4th right wing..
Kelly is a hugh dissapointment... Should have tryed to keep Vermette and traded kelly........
Pretty sure Goose Bay is just an hour difference. Hope so anyway, otherwise I was late for appointments all day.
Hey fans, thank you for your support throughout the season. Just wanna give everyone a heads up about my new book which you should find in bookstores around you in the near future. I am about to release "How to Kill a Goalie's Confidence".
Goose Bay is in Labrador(on the mainland), so it's only an hour difference.
10:30 pm AST Start-Time
Don Cherry's is the place to go watch the game.
George Street is a must for Friday & Saturday night entertainment.
I really like what the T1000 has done with the team so far this year but to me Leclair should have started... I think it complete bullshit to not start him after he played a great game and say he'll get to play sometime during the roadtrip... well Elliott started how many games in a row??? I dont see why pascal couldnt start tonights game or the next one too!! he's a professional athlete for christ sakes!
Oh yeah, Goose Bay is the QC side. 1 hour difference, 1.5 on the Rock.
Im just as upset as the next person that Leclaire isnt starting.. but we all know that Clouston is going with Elliott down the strecth, there is no hiding that fact.
When a starting goalie on any team is out for whatever reason, and the backup comes in and plays well, it doesnt mean they should be given a chance to be the #1 guy. Just say thank you for holding the fort, but the starter will take over from here..
Im a Leclaire guy, but this is Elliotts team now, so lets all get behind him and support him. Even if he loses tonight, lets not all start going crazy about why Elliott started and all that crap..
If you cant come to terms with Elliott being the starter, then sucks for you.
GO SENS, GO ELLIOTT, GO LECLAIRE, GO WARM WEATHER! haha
Good luck asking Newfies to put the Sens game on if there's a Leaf or Habs game on.
They bleed the blue ooze over there...
Nobody's perfect.
Hey Senschirp if your travels ever bring you to Whitehorse you'll always have a place to watch the game!
GLASSCAL LECLAIRE DID IT HIMSELF , ELLIOTT IS OUR NUMBER 1 BECAUSE OF IT , BETTER RECKOGNIZE!!!!!!!no favourites here retards
chris k you are totally right , this IS elliotts team now , agree 200% support him fuckers!!!!
When I was in Goose Bay 12 years ago there was a British pub called "The Bulldog" that was fun. It's likely they have TVs and stuff for hockey there.
Not sure if it's restricted to military guys or not. I was with the Coast Guard at the time.
Haha Chirp, need a link to a live feed?
TO jb
Don Cherry's is good, you're welcome to watch it at my place too.
Just tried out Don Cherry's in Goose Bay.
Seemed like they were closin up though so it looks like it's the hotel room TV for me!
Elliott is our STARTING GOALIE and will treated as such...stop crying people. And to those who think Leclaire is the answer, his ONE, and ONLY ONE, good season in the NHL isn't your basis for this opinion (I hope).
'chirp if you ever come to my shack in the woods we can watch the game together and maybe talk about the celebrities we'd like to meet.
Never know what is going on at practice or behind closed doors. I hope Clouston hasn't decided Elliott is "the man" no matter what. I totally support Ells and he's played great, but why not let Leclaire raise the bar even further?
I hope Ottawa wins 5-4, Elliott lets in four softies because of the flu is pulled, Pascal plays amazing in relief and Clouston looks like a tard for not starting him over a sick goalie.
The Sens are dominating this game so far. Deslauriers is stealing the show. Go Sens
Why do we constantly make average goalies look like awesome.... UGHHH
I don't think anyone who thinks/states they would have started Leclaire tonight thinks Elliott sucks or even that Leclaire is THE MAN. Most people (IMO) simply feel Leclaire should get a shot to steal back the number 1 job.
I don't think many people would argue that Elliott isn't the #1 right now, but if Leclaire (or heck Brodeur) can steal the number 1 job by playing even better - isn't that a good thing?
Lee looks pretty good tonight after signing - hopefully it's a sign of things to come.
Chirp:
Go to the Duke of Duckworth. Dingy, awesome bar with a big screen. It's on Duckworth (downtown).
Don't go to Cherry's.
Deslauriers has been anything but average in his past 3 games. But you could just feel that the flood gates would eventually open up.
On the negative side, Karlsson has been pretty bad today. I think he's trying to do too much on the PP again.
A few weak plays along the blue in the 2nd and didn't really do much to help out the first 8 PPs.
** Ok maybe I'm wrong... Dean Brown just gave him some props **
Eric...11:59....Karlsson wasn't bad at all almost 22 mins 5 shots and 2 points .. yeah thats a pretty bad day give your head shake ..Flames are next then canucks saturday ..cant wait for the playoffs !!

Being a Sens fan living in St. John's is tough. Lots of Blue around...a few Sens fans though, but we're tough to find. I can't really hold it against them, with the baby leafs being here for so long...kinda like blaming people from Binghamton for liking Ottawa....
There's a few good sports bars around if you're in St. John's. Don Cherry's on Freshwater has a massive tv...but expect a Laffs game to be on. And as mentioned, you can't go wrong with George street. Make sure you get screeched in too b'y!
