Boo Hoo?

(UPDATE 2:29 PM)- So far just the one call up. Zach Smith will join the team and will play tonight. There was talk about calling up a bunch of guys but it sounds like a few guys will try to play through the illness.

(
UPDATE 11:57 AM)- According to Garrioch, Leclaire is likely to start tonight.

Anyone remember that last flu game against the Leafs? The entire Senators team was hit by it and could barely finish the game. The Leafs rallied that night and Owen Nolan wasn't having any of the Senators excuses.

Looks like we have a repeat of that this evening.

The team has been absolutely ravaged by the flu bug the last couple of days and it has left the team shorthanded heading into tonight's game with the Leafs.

Ruutu, Regin, and Shannon were all hit with it yesterday. Today it sounds like Elliott may have joined the sick bay because the Sens have yet to name a starting goalie for the game. Call ups are expected and one of those call ups could be a goalie.

Stay tuned. I'll post the call ups when they announce them and hopefully have an idea of what the line up will look like tonight.

Oh and...round 4?

Leclaire . . . -facepalm-

Carkner got rocked last time they fought. He must have had a concussion because he was in lulu land. Maybe he is still feeling the effects and that is why he has looked pretty bad out there since.
Hopefully his noggin is OK and he flattens Orr but I don't see him fighting tonight.

MIKE BRODEUR to MAKE IT 4-0 to start his already stellar NHL career!!!

Hope carkner can realize that you CAN'T go punch for puch with orr, he is much to strong.. Ask Brian Mcgrattan!!!

Hope Cheechoo gets the call and regains his scoring touch.....

As for Leclaire??????????????????? BIG ???????????????????

Not comfortable with Leclaire starting tonight. If we have 7 or 8 regulars out (including those injured) -- this game will only be won by goaltending. Right now Leclaire is not playing with confidence. If they have to call up -- I would go with Brodeur for this one. Start Leclaire in Edmonton -- not at home.

They will fight Carkner will win.

Sens 4
Leafs 1

This could be a great opportunity for Leclaire. He is running out of opportunities this year so hopefully he can put together a strong 60 minutes tonight and get things rolling

Carkner just has to be smart and not try and trade toe to toe standing straight up square thats got ko written all over it.

I don't care who is sick look at the leafs fws there is no excuses to lose to this damn team if the sens get outworked by the ahl leafs im going to put my remote thru my tv.

Let's hope and pray that Clouston does not pull any goalie tonite !

Hope we walk all over the Leafs, by
a score of 8-0, to amend our last loss of 5-0 !

If the Sens play without players due to injury/flu -- could be 6 or more players out... don't overlook the Leafs. I hate that team probably more than any one.
But, they have a lot of young players trying to prove they belong in the NHL. They are fast. They have a big defense -- and goaltending -- well -- I guess it can get hot at times... especially the way the Sens have not been able to score the last couple of games. Sens made Manny Legace look like a Vezina trophy candidate the last game. Don't get too cocky with this game. It will not be easy. Leafs are playing loose and have nothing to lose -- so to speak. Depending on who is out or in due to flu -- especially if it is some of our top 6 guys -- this may get ugly. I hope the D is not affected by this -- Sens are thin back there right now.
Hope they breathe all over the Leafs and pass on that flu bug to them....

I was down at the rink this morning for a lunch I won as a season ticket holder. Randy Lee spoke to those at the lunch and said a few things during the lunch:

1) Alfie, Fisher, Neil and Regin (I think I have remembered the names correctly but don't shoot me if I got it wrong) are all sick with the flu. Some of them will have to play tonight. Of those who are sick who have to play, they will be hooked up to an IV before and during breaks the game (not sure if just between periods or between shifts). Doctors really do what they can to help the players get through it.
2) Zack Smith is being called up but its probablamatic. Bingo is in the Aderondacks so someone has to break in (maybe he was just being colourful language) to Zack Smith's apartment in Bing and get his passport and then meet him in at the border.
3) He mentioned that he thought the Senators last game against the Leafs with the flu bug (the boohoo game) was a great game for the team given the adversity they faced and how few were left on the bench at the end. While they lost, it was a team accomplishment. He said tonights game might be a great team bonding event.
4) He said that he thought Karlson will be the best offensive defenseman Ottawa has ever had.

Cheers

At least the Sens don't play again until Tuesday. Sonds like a few days of rest will be much needed.

I really hope Leclaire (and the rest of the team) shows up on time for this one.

called up zach smith

Anon 12:42, better go buy yourself a spare remote. Sens will not come out of this one with a win. They will tank and struggle on the road trip out west. Then they will start winning again and peak just at the right time for the playoffs.

GO SENS!!!!

P.S. who cares if they lose against trana anyways, as long as they are kicking ass heading into the playoffs I am more than happy.

I think they should have called up more players.. at least the goalie.
Leclaire is not ready as shown the other night. He will be playing under pressure to win tonight. Toronto will come out hard as they know the Sens are ill.
Let's hope the Sens pass on this flu to the Leafs -- so they can enjoy it to.
Let's hope by Tuesday most of it will be over. If not will be an ugly road trip -- and six losses in a row. I'm not holding out much hope tonight. It will be a brave effort at least. Do what you can boys.

Anyone see how well Cheech is doing in the minors? 8 Games, 4 Goals , 1 assist

Pretty good considering he scored 5this year in the NHL. Keep up the great work Cheech hope to see you up in Ottawa for the playoffs

No Alfie, maybe no Fisher -- Leclaire in net? Yikes -- it's gonna be a long night.
Those Leaf fans will be all hyped up if Leafs beat the Sens... even under these circumstances. But see what we can do... and pass on that flu to the blue & white.

what color we wearing tonight?? black or red???

Justin said...

I wish Clouston would tell Leclaire that he's playing the next 5 or 6 games, no matter what. We need Leclaire to gain his confidence back. He is a more talented goalie than Elliott, and our playoff chances are better with a confident Leclaire than a confident Elliott. Elliott can be solid, but doesn't steal games. Leclaire at his best can steal games.
I don't think he's been given a fair chance - and what goalie can prove himself after being pulled 7 minutes into a game, and with a flu-ravaged roster in front of him.

I don't wanna sound bitter, but these CBC guys are AWFUL. Getting player's names wrong (Lee/Karlsson), saying Fisher's not on the bench when HE'S ON CAMERA and saying there was a Leafs powerplay coming when Sutton got hooked.

Galley is fine as usual, but the other two in the both are morons.

Where's Dean-o?????

I hope we see Carkner-Orr V later tonight (when it's not the end of a shift for Carkner).

Since Cullen is supposed to be a good two way player with a good shot from the point.. Why not convert him into a defenseman ?

I'm so sick of chris phillips...let one of the best shooters in the league a free lane. God he's bad. And the announcers had the balls to blame it on Leclaire...
