(UPDATE 2:55 PM)- As I mentioned earlier, the Sens were off today but an interview with Clouston indicated that Alex Picard (upper body) is doubtful for the game tomorrow in Phoenix. Campoli will draw back in if Picard can't go.
Clouston talked about goaltending but didn't say anything about who his starter would be tomorrow night.
The Coach also said that Chris Neil is probably still another 10 days away from returning.
The Senators are off today as they get set to face the Phoenix Coyotes tomorrow night. Ottawa will travel back to California after the game in Arizona to close out the road trip in Anaheim. Pretty bizarre scheduling by the NHL on this road trip.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw Mike Brodeur get a start in one of the next two games. That should make the Mike Brodeur fan that's always hanging around here quite happy.
Tomorrow night is another Saturday night game with no scheduled TV coverage. But I actually just got an email saying that the game will be available on Centre Ice. They will apparently use the in-house video along with the Coyotes radio broadcast. That should be a treat...
I think we could all use some good news the day after a tough loss in Los Angeles so here is a little update I got on the third jersey possibility for next season. This is still just a rumour at this point but pretty exciting if it's true.
The person I spoke with said that the design that's being discussed does have that vintage "O" logo and could include red helmets.

Picard didn't look good though and I would be very surprised if he was back tomorrow night.

I thought Kuba had a rare off game. I think going back to a more 2-way role now that Volchie is back gave him some issues. Hopefully he adapts quickly. Nice to see Fisher still playing so great. And just love Michalek more and more every game. Loved that graphic where he's on pace for 49 goals and Dany is on pace for 51. Would absolutely jump for joy if Michalek ends up with more goals than Dany.

I'm a fan of the Black SENS jersey, in fact that's the jersey I chose to buy, hated it at first, but it grew on me (hence why I bought it) I like it more than the red jersey. However, I also like the original fan designed O jersey from right before the black SENS jersey was released, so I'm indifferent.
Finally, I hope we never hear of a Barker to Ottawa trade... the reasons have been stated in many a comment section before this one, not by me, and will continue to be, he is not a top defenseman.

I'm not sure the players going to Chicago was ever a major factor in that deal.
It was more about Chicago creating some cap freedom.
Although realistically, things have been very quiet on that front.

dave, barker is definately a top two guy. His price is not riduclous at all either. The guy is 23 or maybe 24 oldest. He is still develping. He is a calbre under the top notch cream of the crop D. What team will trade their Weber's, Seabrooks, Doughty's, Keiths ect. NO ONE. Barker is the next level of good young defenceman. Picking him up would be very good for the organization, and that may be an understaement. I think after 10 games with him in our line-up (hypothetically), you would change your mind. Just my opinion, doesnt mean Im right.
I like the O design, but I can just imagine blue-team fans making jokes about it being a zero not an O, or "oh oh" jokes etc.
But yeah I like the look of it for sure.

You know what - when Campoli came up last year he was a major reason they were better in the 2nd half. Damn it let him play. I like Carkner but he should be on our 4th line banging bodies up front. He's slow back there on defence.

I agree that Carkner is solid on the blue line. He's a bottom pairing guy for sure and PK but he doesn't worry me on the ice at all and should improve steadily.
Putting him on the 4th line sounds okay on paper - but look at how lost Schubie's game got when he was swinging back and forth. Now if we pick up another stud on D and clear out some of our clutter, I'm cool with Carks as either the 7th D or 4th line guy if others are out (dono, neiler etc). But for now I think he's always on the blueline and two of Campoli/Picard/Karlsson/Lee are not.

Sens management believes that Kovalev will be more motivated with a red helmet on. Pierre McGuire loves their "out of the box thinking" and promises to pass it along to the decision makers in the league office and on the competition committee.

Honestly people making fun of the jersey having an O on it never really crossed my mind when thinking about this concept. If wearing a Sens jersey on its own doesn't get people razzing you I don't see how this would be any different.
It's not like you're walking down Yonge street and they'll (Leaf fans, not the ladies of the evening) leave you alone if you have the red jersey on. "Oh he's wearing the other one, we'll make fun of the next fan we see, you know, the one wearing the 'zero' jersey ha!"
Anyway, I think they released the other jersey on purpose knowing most people wouldn't like it. There were tonnes of people clamouring for the very design it sounds like they will be releasing, before the current 3rd came out. They released that one anyway, and then a year later they release the one people wanted all along. It's all about bringing ina few extra dollars. Can't say I'm too crazy about the red helmet idea though, yuck. If the jersey is black they would look horrible together.
Bring back the 2-D logo of the gladiator. That one was epic. So epic, in fact, that I found an old Sens jersey from 1992 on Ebay and bought it.
I say wear red helmets, but only if it's like the ones Fisher Price makes for kids.
Having an "O" might make it easy for journalists and commentators to make fun of the team or individual players that have not scored in a while.

Whatever happened to "sticking with that works?" Foligno & Ruutu seem to get a surprising amount of goals together. Demote Karlsson (Even though im a huge fan of him and I want him to play more) and bring up Brian Lee because 2 points in 2 games shows he's one of the hardest working guys on the ice.

Been noticing something bout spezza's game that i've never really seen anyone comment on and was looking to see if anyone could shed some light. Face-offs....sorta. I know his success rate been brought up many a time, but has anyone else noticed how many times he's been kicked outta the draw? I really don't mean this in any type of anti-spez way, im definitely a big fan of his, but just wonderin if anyone else has noticed? might be redundant to pick on him for it, but is that even a stat people look into? i dont get why people get kicked out most of the time, but pretty much at least once or twice a game he gets booted!

There seems to be a lot of Spezza bashing again, since the Sens have been on this road trip.. and it's losing streak.
A couple of weeks ago, he was great -- now people on his back -- again.
My opinion he's trying too much.. relax and he will start getting points again.
Remember, it took Michalek playing with Spezza to get his first NHL hat trick.. He could not get a hat trick playing with the 'great' Joe Thornton.. but he could with Spezza?

I've been reading around and apparently he missed the morning skate too.
Ive sent out some emails to see if anyone knows whats up. I'll post an update if I hear anything.

Speaking of the Binghamton Senators.. the goalie, Chris Holt, they brought in when Brodeur was called up by the Sens.. He has played two games -- two shutouts. Not bad --The B-Sens have won the last 3 games by outscoring their opponents 16-1.
Looks like things are turning around in Bingo.
a lot of Brian Murray bashing around here as well. The guy actually has a very good track record as a GM. I get the feeling that a lot of these people bashing Brian Murray would be bashing the GM right now regardless of who he is. Some people are just never satisfied. It also speaks to their short-sightedness, always looking for a scapegoat and Spezza seems to be taking on that role...again. Show some patience guys, I promise you we will be an elite hockey club again.

I think he made it clear that he only likes cheering on a winning team. I doubt anyone saying anything to him will change his opinion. But I will say that his stance confuses me greatly, mostly because he's using lack of a specific brand to boycott the team.
As far as I am concerned branding deals with marketing which has to do with making money, a team needs to make money to stay afloat, that all makes sense. What doesn't is that he states that he doesn't watch or go to games anymore because he doesn't like the direction the management has taken the brand, or lack their of. I'm beginning to think that he is an economics fan, instead of a hockey fan. So why bother?
I think that also explains why he'll only cheer for them in the playoffs, because that's when they make the most money... It's all really confusing to me because you don't really cheer for a brand, you cheer for the team, which I suppose is a brand in some sense. A brand is something that distinguishes similar products from each other... I'm pretty sure red jerseys with a Sens logo allows you to know which team to cheer for. I would really like clarification on his stance though.

Chris Holt -- I think is from Elmira -which must be linked to B-Sens. He's a big one... 6'3" -- about 220 lbs.. He's from Vancouver.
Actually Bingo in the last 4 games has outscored their opponents 21 - 1. Two of the shutouts were from Holt.. the other from Chiodo..
Holt appears to be a 'diamond in the rough'. B-Sens play on the road next game... so we will see if he keeps it up. If he does.. maybe Mike Brodeur should be sent down with this guy coming up!!I know 3 games is not much experience... but his record sure raises eyebrows.

Sens should go with black white and gold/silver with their new uniforms and bring back the old 2D Gladiator logo to stick on the front of it.
Isn't Aaron Ward's value something a little closer to a 3rd/4th round pick? It doesn't make sense to offer up Lee for that, no matter how much you don't like him. It'd probably cost a 4th round pick just to fill the gap in Binghamton.
As well, if Lee's value is close to the ever popular Cam Barker - wouldn't that absolutely mean that Ward would be a terrible comparison (or the other way around?) It's an interesting thought, but doesn't seem very plausible. Hopefully something is done about Lee/Campoli/Karlsson/Picard though. Ideally, you'd play only one, maybe 2 out of that group on an NHL team.
