I'll be live blogging the game tonight for the Score. Here's the link...

Really bizarre incident unfolding at Scotiabank Place today. Apparently a Minnesota equipment truck caught on fire and a bunch of equipment has been lost including all of the gear belonging to goaltender Niklas Backstrom.
The league is looking into the incident right now.
According to Brent Wallace and CTV news, the Ottawa Fire Department was on the scene for over 40 minutes and all of the gear has been destroyed.
Really, really strange.

gotta do what you gotta do to win..lol
wow, any idea what the league will let them do? atleast theres a hockey store up the street in the centrum to buy new stuff
I suspect Jacques Lemaire
Pro*Line...
Cause anything can happen.
The TSN hockey panel will blame it on Ruutu...
It wasn't ME, it was the one armed man!
According to TSN - the Wilds equipment van caught fire at SBP. They lost all skates and sticks. craziness. How does a van burn down in minus 15?
Is that ever weird.... anyways SC, I think you should make a post about the new Mike Fisher Support page for Team Canada...
http://www.mikefisherforteamcanada2010.ca/index.php
Lets get as many people as we can to sign
And people say Sens fans aren't devoted ;o)
Would be interesting to hear how it actually happened.
so some of them can't practice... another reason to beat minny tomorrow I think.
Let's focus on beating the DAMNED devils tonight though.
I missed the Buffalo game but hope to see an entertaining game tonight, even if it is NJ..
lol advantage Ottawa!
wild have sent there eqp manager back to minny to get more eqp according to CBC radio
That is really bizarre. Poor Backstrom.
Hum, talk about weird incidents. Sabres players had to battle food poisining during the game on Wednesday and now this.
What's next under Brian Murray's sleeves? LOL
A H1N1 flue bug in water bottles??
Ott 3 NJ 1
Go SENS GO
Mike Brodeur's super fan strikes! Trying to ensure his boy has the advantage on Saturday.
Didn't they beat the Habs last night?Interesting.....
It wasn't ALL the gear buddy. This is straight from their site:
“There was a fire in an equipment van in the parking lot at Scotiabank Place this afternoon. Some of the Minnesota Wild’s equipment has been damaged. The Wild is in the process of taking inventory to determine the damage to our equipment.”
Notice how it says SOME.....
do you think it was a consipracy?
I wonder if the Wild will be sporting equipment from the 1920s...or some local midget team.
That is strange....I really hope they don't find something "suspicious" about the fire...last thing we need are people accusing this organization of setting fires!!!
GO SENS GO!!
There are cameras all over the parking lots at SBP. I don't know if they record them or not, but you would think that security would have seen anything suspicious.
Hilarious. Go Sens Go!
It was clearly a Habs fan or HeWhoShallNotBeNamed "15".
It was clearly a Habs fan or HeWhoShallNotBeNamed "15".
Can't wait for the "Backstom is on fire tonight", "Holy smoke what a save" "things are heating up" etc comments by Dean Brown.
PL
I hope the SBP DJ will play a few fire inspired songs during the game against the Wild:
We didn't start the fire- Billy Joel
Fire- Hendrix
Fire woman- Cult
Roof is on fire...
Lol at the To Kill a Mockingbird comment.
Solid game from mostly everyone. It came down to weak goals let in by elliot, and some horrible defense lapses by kuba who was -3.
How did kuba miss the check on niedermayer?
It may be time to bench Kuba and put Campoli back in.
It's nice to see the great work ethic by the Sens since Spezza went down with injury.
watching the hawks play,,,they look like we used to , with hossa to boot!!! we have no more oooomph!!! we are old!!! perhaps tanking the season to add hall isnt that bad of an idea???WE ARE POOP!!!
STFU and GTFO anonymous @ 10:09
Anon 10:09, you are a flippin idiot. We are decimated with injuries to our key guys and for the most part kept up with a very good NJ team.
trust me, I am really critical when it comes to the Sens and I even am willing to be patient through these times. If we muscle through this at even .500 hockey....This will build charachter once the big boys are back! I like the fact that a guy like Winnie is stepping up and proving his worth.
tanking on purpose is probably one of the most brutal suggestions i've ever heard...i'd rather see the sens get a brutal pick and actually play hard and finish 9th or something like that...
right now, they don't deserve a whole hell of a lot with players not playing to their potential...it seems no matter who Ottawa gets, they will continue to be the most lazy team. i can stand losses, but if you're paid as much as you are and can't give it your all for a couple minutes every odd night then you suck. its disgraceful.
btw, BRUTAL 4th goal for NJ...why Elliott didn't watch that puck as it bounced over him i just wont understand. If he just assumed it was going to make it over the net without even bothering to look then i dont know what to say, that just boils my blood...Leclaire come back soon
Shut up 10:09. I'm sick of hearing "sens for cup" one day and "time to rebuild and start from scratch" the next from people. We are still in a playoff spot. Wait till Leclaire, Neil, Donovon, foligno are back. Watch them skyrocket through the standings. At least in our division. Yet, you morons will still say we suck. It's frickin garbage!
I agree that Chicago looks like we used to. They are fun to watch, just like we used to be.
I also think that Campoli needs to get more time. He's earned it.
Alan Walsh's twitter says he got a call from Havlat telling him all his equipment was burned in the fire.
And the ScoreOttawa twitter is saying that it was apparently a blow torch that started the whole thing...
Lol.
Sens forwards were once again excellent. Great team effort. Elliot was garbage and cost us the game. He made mistakes on all 4 goals.
1. How does he let the puck get through his crease on that sharp an angle. Inexcusable for him not to stop that pass from ever getting to the corner for the tap in.
2. Lousy point shot where he saw it most of the way but he was deep in his crease.
3. Again a tab in because he wasn't out hard enough to make sure that the man in front couldn't tap it right past him. The guy was off to the side too. Brutal.
4. Doesn't even need words to explain how this horrible this goal was.
Leclaire can't come back soon enough.
Yep. We did used to look like that (young, talented, fast, highly skilled). Now we look like the leafs of a couple years ago. Old, slow, untalented, over-paid. Oh well, maybe we can squeak into the playoffs to quickly get our asses kicked again. Then repeat it all again next year. And the year after that, and that and that....
Time for a reality check. Without at least a minor rebuild we will not win the cup.
pg
Hey SC any word on what's taking BM so long to get Andrew Ladd over here? Personally I'd trade karlsson+ 1st rd pick or karlsson+ kuba for Andrew Ladd. Do it already! If he can't get Ladd over here soon, BM has got to go.
So Murray should be fired because of an inability to land Andrew Ladd?
Well that's a new one.......
Yes, because clearly we need to give up our PMD of the future for a completely average left winger.
xInSafeHandsx:
FYI, every player on every team gets paid millions idiot. Salary is not going to determine who wins unless you're the NY Yankees.
And the fact that you say that Ottawa is a lazy team proves how little you know about the Sens and hockey in general. We're a hard working team that's dessimated with key injuries right now. If we won every game, we'd be a miracle.
I've also gotten used to idiots like yourself always blaming the goalie for losses. You're fucking lame and unoriginal if you ask me.
Other than the fact that the fourth goal was only the result of bad luck, you (and all the other retards) always neglect to praise the big saves, like the 3-4 breakaways in the third that Elliott had to save because of defensive mistakes.
But seriously though. If you're angry, maybe you should stop watching the games. Might do you some good.
Oh, and why don't you stop posting on here, that would do us some good...
Hi everyone, first time poster. been enjoying reading everyone's comments for sometime now. i usually read what i think in other people's posts but there was one comment missing from last nights game.
WHAT IS WITH FILIP KUBA???
This guy has a huge frame and would rather poke check someone instead of rubbing them out against the boards when the perfect opportunity presents itself. For instance rob neidemeyer walking right through him only to put the puck right on pandolfo's stick right in front of the net. would have like to seen elliot use his stick to complicate that pass or even pandolfo's shot but the point is he shouldn't have been there in the first place. if he hasn't already clouston needs to start working on kuba's physical game. i know he's never been a physical guy and that's fine but why would you not want to encourage him to be and work with it. he'll watch the tape and see how robby needs' walked right around him and wouldn't that spark some physicality in his play? regardless when kuba is paired with karlson he needs to take the roll of the leader and use his frame to his advantage otherwise the 2 of them make no sense together, pair karlson with atrain and i think that might be an interesting line to revolve when him and phillips aren't working as the shut down pair.
well, that was supposed to be a quick post. hope some of you agree with my kuba issues
might be going to the game tonight, if not definitely gonna watch the bruins on monday.
happy holidays sens fans.
i wonder if the wild will look like that hilarious proline commercial from a couple years back that had the players in 1940s equipment.
I think people forget that NJ is arguably the best team in the east.
Great players, games best goalie ever and well coached.
I don't know what makes people think that we were just going to go in there and win.
Sens are going to win a tight game against a surging Minnesota team that will play with un-broken into equipment.
And tomorrow morning you will all wake up in a better mood...
My opinion is that NJ comes out of the east this year in the Cup final. They seem to have it all --can't find any weak spots in their game.
Sens played pretty good against them last night.. but they have to hit the net.. too many wide shots. Since Spezza is out they have to work on the powerplay -- that most probably cost them the game.. other than that 4th NJ goal. I'm not sure how Eliot could not find the puck when it went up in the air..
