The Ottawa Senators will look to get back in the win column tonight when they pay a visit to Anze Kopitar and the LA Kings. Puck drop is at 10:30 PM
After being benched for a portion of the game against the Sharks, Nick Foligno will be a healthy scratch tonight. Peter Regin will take his spot in the line up.
Michalek-Spezza-Alfredsson
Kovalev-Fisher-Shannon
Ruutu-Kelly-Cheechoo
Regin-Winchester-Keller
Brian Elliott will start in goal.
Nothing new on the rumour front today. I spoke with one source who said the organization is downplaying the potential dispute between Lee and the organization but that's to be expected.
The Karlsson call up had a lot to do with helping a struggling power play. They just want Lee to go down to the AHL and work hard. End of story. I still think Brian Lee could be dealt but I really don't think he's enough to pry Filatov out of Columbus.
The Senators are absolutely discussing potential trade options right now but there really doesn't appear to be any sense of urgency to get something done.

SC - Does this make any sense to you? Why would #71 get scratched before #41? Foligno is producing just as much, and is on the upswing, Cheechoo is the reverse. Stuff like this, to me, sends the wrong message to the kids coming up.
As I said the Foligno decision is a brutal one by a coach clearly drunk with power.
The guy that should be sat down (and has needed it for the past 3 years) is SPEZZA. He is killing us out there with his lack of production and he is clearly playing injured too. Give him a health break for a few games, we have won without him before and still can.
4-3 Senators, go sens!
Odd with the Foligno bench, then the scratch. Clouston does realize Slovalev is now 11 games without a goal. I guess $$$ besides your name trumps being benched or scratched.
Foligno a healthy scratch?? Wow, I think that guys like Kovalev or Spezza sould be healthy scratches before Foligno.
Kovalev was -3 against SJ. He looks like an old man out there.
Spezza is past his prime and a change of scenery would benefit both the Sens and him. The Olympic team is by far out of reach for him when it should have been a motivator.
Murray needs to go. Hey SC, why don't you step into that role... any change would be a good change!!
Foligno has 9 pts and is a +6.
Cheechoo has 4 pts and is a -7.
Hmm...let's scratch...Foligno.
Clouston, give your head a shake!
You obviously cant bench Spezza or Kovalev but sitting Foligno and leaving a guy like Keller in just aint right.
Shannon on the second line... seriously? Man I hate that guy. I know he did amazing in the AHL under Clouston but come on...
Cheechoo scoring = top centre feeding him. Do you think when he was scoring in San Jose Grier was setting him up? No, Joe Thornton was.
Man I wished we had hired DeBoer.
Great point Chirp.
Leaving in Keller, Shannon, or Regin over Foligno sends entirely the wrong message.
Clouston is a very bad coach. Hartsburg ran a better defensive system and plays a hell of alot nicer with prospects. Mid-rebuild or not BM has been making some pretty bad decisions as of late...
Not to nit-pick, but I think Keller is the one drawing back into the lineup.
Kind of surprised with Foligno being benched then scratched but have to assume the coach knows more than we do. Scratching Cheechoo is plain silly - he's getting chances out there. Spezza has one off game against the best line in the NHL and everyone's ready to toss him under the bus. Relax. Yeah he's been off a bit for a while now, but no where near the point of benching him. And Kovalev is coming along. Slowly yes, but that's what you get with him. Benching/scratching him won't get him any more motivated.
Looking for a strong bounce-back game tonight. Win or lose I hope they at least play 60 hard minutes. I wasn't too upset with their play in SJ but it wasn't crisp that's for sure. Hopefully Fisher and Volchenkov shake most of the rust off tonight and Spezza bounces back. If so, we're in good shape.
Keller played against the Sharks. Regin did not.
Man, you people need to relax. I know it's fun to play arm-chair coach/GM as if you were on your XBox but really... Are any of you at practice? Are any of you on the bench? Do any of you know what is being asked of various players? Or which players are a little banged up?
Foligno could have been benched/scratched for a dozen reasons nobody here could possibly guess. Let the coach coach the team for God's sake.
Clouston you are loosing respect fast with the fans. Soon will be players with stunts like this.
Okay - you're right Chirp. Keller did play though before the game it was expected he wouldn't.
Andrew - you have no clue what's going on in the room. No clue what message was given to Foligno or the rest of the team, let alone the reason behind this decision.
Any fans that are losing respect for Clouston over the reasons they IMAGINE he has made certain moves are simply idiots.
Go ahead and speculate or comment etc, but don't act like you know better. If you like Foligno, fine (I do). If you'd make a different move, also fine. But until you know the exact reasons why a certain move is made you really can't say the players are going to lose respect for the coach.
Wow man, so much knee-jerking going on here it's crazy.
I like Clouston, but he seems obsessed with playing Shannon, who now moves up to the second line.
Shannon has 0G 3A 3P -3 in 17games. Donovan has 3 points in 12 games . Even Lee has 3 points in 13 games.
Does anyone think the success of the Sens depends on getting Shannon back on track?
PL
Spezza past his prime? honestly can a comment be anymore laughable.
Foligno scratched is baffling imo kinda funny that the player reaping the benifits of this move is Cloustons little pet Shannon who couldn't stay on an nhl roster for the other teams he has been with but is top 6 on the Sens wtf is up with that.
Not to mention he is soft as hell with Neil outta the line up and Fisher not 100% and crashing bodies like normal, can this fw group be anymore soft other than Winnie and the odd Rutuu hit we have no physichal presence up front and it shows.
Hax - part of the fun of being a fan is to pick apart decisions.
On another note, while Cheechoo is getting his chances (debatable), he isn't finishing. Foligno is both getting chances and finishing them, at least twice the rate of Cheechoo. Not to mention Chirp's point of a call up (Keller) staying in the line up over Foligno.
Always a sens fan regardless, which is what makes arm chairing so much fun.
Foligno's hurting. Sore knee, sore back.
The Rachel chick is the hottest one that tiger's been throwing down. Elin is a close second. But, seriously, the other two are dogs. WTF tiger, you should have just stuck with the first two and you would be home free.
Do not have a clue why Foligno was benched last game ! Any idea why ??
Do not understand Clouston reasoning for forcing Foligno to be a "healthy scratch" !!
Line of Foligno - Fisher - Kovalev has been on fire, and to put out the fire is beyond me !!
Just when I thought we had our 4 lines down pat, Clouston sends us on a "merry go round", and we will probably get another "too many men on the ice" !! Must be 8-10 of them, up to this game !!
Murray has a whole bunch of coaching experience, and he should have a talk with Cory, who I thought showed good coaching skills !!
Is there a an internal dissention scenario upon us again ,just when we seem to be on right track !!
What's Up Coach ??
Your thoughts SensChirp ??
Robert Cyr
I like Clouston, but he seems obsessed with playing Shannon, who now moves up to the second line.
For the life of me I can't figure out why he would sit Foligno let alone in favour of others
Unless he is not 100%
Foligno is a hard worker and being rather productive
Shannon, despite being spunky, seems to have no upside to his game
Definitely not something worthy of 2nd line minutes
He isn't a liability but you have to make things work too
Before right now I would have probably put Foligno as the last person to sit out
Shannon, Cheechoo, Keller, Winchester even Donovan i would sit before Foligno
the one player that does need to sit is Spezza
They could be trying to showcase our lower decks for a potential trade
HAX can you honestly tell me Keller deserves the icetime more than foligno? come on. Not saying I know the story, but this isn't right.
Jason - I'm so cool with standard arm-chair talk. It's just the people that go to the extent of saying coaches/GMs should be fired or that players are losing respect etc. There's simply no way to even suspect that's going on.
I'm a big Shannon fan but even I admit his ice time seems out of whack a bit. I get that he's quick and helps cover up defensively with his speed etc. He also opens up ice even when he doesn't get on the score sheet since he's such a water bug. But having said all that, I'm not sure he deserves the top 6 spot. Unless the guys he's playing with are really happy with him and petitioning for him to play on that line, it does seem odd.
Not sure I agree that Foligno is getting more chances that Cheech - but it's close if nothing else. So I have to assume there's something beyond just basic play going on here. Either he's banged up a bit, missed a specific assignment or something else. I'm okay with 'tough love' to get a guy producing more - so if all this boils down to a kick in the ass to try and get more out of him then fine. I think there is more there - but not sure that it's any lack of effort since he seems to working hard out there.
As for Cheech - would love to see him get some time with Spezza or Kovalev (or both??) to see if that gets him going. His effort is solid and with just a tiny bit of luck he could easily have better numbers than Foligno - I can think of at least 4 posts and a few other times he got robbed.
Anyway, lets hope for a win tonight with everyone staying healthy so we can get on a bit of a run here.
What the hell is wrong with some of you people.
1) Spezza is not past his prime. He hasn't even hit it yet, he's only 26.
2) Clouston is actually a good coach. His record is evidence of that. Have a look at DeBoer's record, then Clouston's. They're called results.
3) Kovalev was actually very good in the SJ game. I know that some haters have a problem admitting when he's good because they didn't like the signing. There were times when he was very dangerous out there.
4) Cheechoo, love or hate him, works his ASS off every game. I will not disagree with the fact that he's not getting results. You don't bench a guy if he's working hard.
If Foligno is benched, there's only one person to blame for it, and that's Foligno. If the coach feels he isn't working hard, or isn't playing within the system, then he gets benched. I have no problem with this. It if sends any message to young players in the organization, then that message is this: WORK HARD, AND YOU'LL PLAY. DON'T WORK HARD, AND YOU'RE BENCHED.
Good for Clouston for having the stones to do this.
Clouston cannot bench Cheechoo Murray would flip out and this is the part of the Heatley deal I hate, and it is not fare to the rest of the team.
Clouston cannot bench Cheechoo Murray would flip out and this is the part of the Heatley deal I hate, and it is not fare to the rest of the team.
Andrew - without knowing the story of course I can't. On the face of it you're right of course.
My point is there are dozens of possible reasons (some already listed here). Foligno could be banged up. Foligno could have missed a key assignment or two. Keller/Shannon/Winnie could be potential trade pieces that we want to showcase. Fisher/Kovie could be frustrated with Foligno (though that seems unlikely).
Just too many things that we'd never know about could be going on. I agree on the surface it's odd, but in that case we kind of have to assume there's something we're not aware of.
Foligno is scratched??? Is Clouston drunk???
again. another questionable move. i dont know. i see two things about clouston that are gradually becoming prominent: he has certain favortes/biases/leanings whatever you call it and he is very reluctant to change those. secondly, he seems to be satisfied with just creating chances, which is one step behind the main objective: goal production and winning.
i dont see ANY logic in sittng foligno before Shannon. just no Logic at all. Foligno has shown production on the third line and sitting him ahead of shannon is just mindboggling again. I dont mind keller getting a chance, he has been good for them in the AHL and in the two games he has been here, you cant bump him off just yet. you can see similar stubbornness in decisions regarding line combinations etc. we can all see how effective the second line is: only fisher produces and kovalev tries to act like a centreman. similarly the first line has alfie running circles around the oppositions and spezza coughing up the puck with only milan scoring goals if he is not running into alfie. and surely the third and fourth lines have missed Dono and Neil pretty bad so can't fault clouston on that yet.
another questionable department: shootout choices.
with the chances theory. i dont know if anyone here listens to each of clouston's post game press conferences. but I feel he rationalizes this team's bad performances and losses wayy too much for my consumption atleast. Now i know he doesnt want to throw his guys under the bus, but rationalizing it to two bad goals is just too complacent. just look at how fucking hungry brent sutter is with the flames and you will realize what i mean. there is a reason sutter has a Flames team without a top elite centreman winning games. plus, let alone comparison to other coaches, I thought clouston was hungry to win himself, but his decisions show more complacency than I was expecting. Did the accountability part end with bumping Heatley to the second PP unit? I sure hope not.
i dont know. based on recent performances, i think everyone will agree this team can win a lot of games. there are great positives for example the hard work is there for sure. you cant doubt that. but then you get bonehead decisions which stop that hardwork from breaking through. its just frustrating........
literally hitting your own foot with an axe.
I told ya Murray could nrver pull off a deal to bring Filatov to Ottawa. cus THAT would be good of Ottawa
Dammit!
Foligno was my 10th round pick, he was doing so well for me in my pool!!
Dammit Clouston!!
SM
Clouston really likes little people Shannon Keller, is Clouston married anyone know?
Thank you Hax for the logical view on things, but I don't imagine you'll get too much love for it here.
People prefer to spit and scream rather than listen and think.
Certainly the optics of Foligno sitting is bizarre, but we don't have a clue what happens outside of the actual games.
Maybe Foligno mouthed off during a practice or was late or who knows. Its dumb for us to start calling the most successful coach we've had since Murray took the GM job a terrible coach and power hungry.
Give your heads a shake people...
Wouldn't "literally your own foot with an axe" mean actually taking an axe and hitting your foot - like in real life?
Have you guys considered that maybe they are trying to parade certain players to coax a trade?
go tiger go!!!!! what a dirt ball. he must have a few other kills we dont know about. And the boys need a big W tonight. quit complaining people. some of you are embarrasing.
Foligno isn't playing up to the standards the organization has laid out for him. 9 points in 25 games isn't enough from him, especially with the way he finished off last season. He's had no jump in his last half dozen games even playing with Fisher and Kovalev. This move is to get this kid going, plain and simple.
As for benching Spezza, Michalek would disagree. Spezza's set up half of Michalek's goals and is helping turn Michalek into a potential 49 goal scorer.
As for benching Kovalev, Fisher would disagree. Fisher will tell you that Kovalev has made his game better and would not let you even get near scratching Kovalev.
As for Clouston not benching Cheechoo, Cheechoo is at least working hard and creating chances for himself. He may not be finishing on these chances, but at least he's working.
So, all in all, this move is not surprising. Foligno hasn't had enough jump in his game lately and this is simply a move to get him going again. I have no problem with it.
P.S. Shannon had a good game on Tuesday. That's why he's being rewarded, not because he's a "Clouston guy."
Cheechoo probably got the heads up over foligno because cheech has experience in the west playing against teams like los angeles. He knows the style of play. I think no other reason the that.
Another reason for that would be his work ethic. Apparently the staff cannot say enough about his work ethic and I agree. Cheech, as much as he ma not put goals in, never ceases to try. That always means a lot to this organization and I don't blame them after being labelled for quite a few years in a row the laziest team in the NHL, thanks in part to Heater. Good riddance.
From what I hear Foligno is a bit banged up but could play. Clouston wants him to take a game...rest and watch.
If any of you have learned anything over the last 50-60 games I hope it is that Clouston rewards EFFORT, EFFECTIVENESS and THEN production. Looking at the stats will not help you determine who is in and who is out.
-kw
Cassie,
Guess you answered my question !
Very true that Foligno has declined in past 8-9 games, so coach wants to instill in him the passion he used to have !
What are the odds that we will not have a bench minor penalty for "too many men on the ice " in La tonite ??
Robert Cyr
Who wants to bet Shannon gets a new 7 year $3 mill deal in the offseason from the Sens..?
Just seems to be the way things are going with all the unfounded love towards the guy, I don't get it.
I think it should be mandatory to list whether or not you have watched recent games before people shoot their mouthes off on here.
Shannon played really quite well against the sharks, and as much as I love Foligno, he isnt making things happen for himself recently like I am used to seeing.
Clouston is a good coach. He has turned a pretty sad team around here. the person who mentioned Hartsburg... are you kidding? People, please, relax.
It could be Nicky is hurt. Maybe we are showcasing. Who knows. the point is, you do not sit spezza, when he was out, we werent winning. and whether or not he has been productive, he is still a threat that teams pay attention to, leaving the door open for other guys. Take Kovalev out? again I ask if you have watched the games recently?
Clouston is a good coach with a good record. He made this decision for whatever reason. WHY must people be so negative about EVERYTHING?
Don't be stupid people. Shannon is one the quickest skaters in the entire frickin league!!! Clouston can clearly see this, but the rest of you can't!
thats funny becuase i was saying foligno should be benched i mean the guy has great potential and hasnt done anything great for us yet c'mon nicky get ur sh*t together.
Maybe it's Foligno that is on the move...
Ryan Shannon for 7 years at less than league minimum, I'd take it!
Second guessing a winning coach? Hmmm...
Foligno does deserve a benching. I certainly expect more from him. At least Kovalev, and Spezza are generating chances.
Foligno is supposed to be a power forward, and they expect him to bang and crash and get dirty goals. He has been the most invisible player IMHO in the last few games.
Look how well Shannon is playing now after a benching.
They are obviously hoping he hates this and comes in with some inspired play.
Fisher really looks like he is playing hurt and Spezza is definitely playing hurt (back).
Kovy is Kovy, and BM expected us to expect as much.
Poeple should chill.
KJ
Chirp - fresh rumour of Lee being shopped for a forward. Any insight?
Wow, what's up with the all this Clouston bashing? I for one am glad to see him sitting some players in the press box to watch a game. If that doesn't motivate them to step up their game then nothing will. Perhaps Clouston sees some potential in Foligno, and he isn't delivering. Let Clouston do his things and lets just worry about doing our thing. Which is filling up SBP and chanting Go Sens go! Oh ya, and we don't seem to be doing a good job of that Sens fans! How many sell outs this year? 2?
Hey -- coaches -- coach and fans watch the game. As someone said before, we have no idea what goes on in the dressing room as to who sits out and who doesn't.
And for trading for either Frolov or Fitatov... I certainly hope not. Filatov is not with Columbus as he was not playing well.. I think Frolov is also underachieving... but I don't want another Russian player -- who will run to the KHL when things don't go their way.
A trade with Chicago would be great... but do we have the cap room as Chicago will not take back salary...
If everyone on the Sens gets healthy, Alfie, Spezza, Fisher, Volchy, Leclair, Neil... I think the Sens will be okay. They were playing very good until Leclair and Neil got injured. Neil can light a fire under the team... providing he does not take any bad penalties.
Hope for a win tonight.. Elliott has to be very good....
As a last point... after seeing Michalek play -- I would sooner him than Heatley. Michalek can be put on the ice in any situation and play very good... Heatley was too one dimential.
Shannon works hard and deserves these extra chances to see if he can produce.
Everybody keeps talking about how Shannon is a favorite. But he has been rumored in trades just as much as Brian Lee. Shannon might be getting more ice time to show boat him. But he can also be getting this ice time with better players to make sure we are not looking to trade a player we want to keep.
Everyone needs to relax on this Folingo thing too. Someone was comparing Clouston to Sutter. This is a Sutter move! Obviously Folingo has started to slack or just got a bit of a ego or something. Clouston is from Sutter town and is the second best coach in the league right behind Sutter.
And as for Chew. I agree he works super hard and deserves more production. Everyone within the Franchise says the same thing. I am fine with him on the team. But if an opportunity arises here to acquire a great player in a trade(Barker/Sharp) but we need more cap space. I think Melnyk and Murray should agree to send him to Bingo and get rid of his cap space on the Sens. Give him the "C" and let his hard work rub off on all the young boys. At the same time let him hopefully rediscover himself. Then bring him back up when that stupid contact is up or we find enough space for him.
I just think Chew could do a lot of good in Bingo and then in a year and a half we can sign him to a 1.3 Mill contract and bring him back up to the big leagues.
Just a thought.
Anon 4:10 PM... are you high?
Murray obviously DID NOT WANT CHEECHOOO jesus listen to the press conference after Heatley was traded. San Jose would only make the deal if Cheechoo came along.
Man so many ppl here who think making trades are so simple. And why bench Foligno? well Foligno hasnt done anything the last week or so and it is time to get Regin in the lineup and give him a chance. I rather have Cheechoo in than Foligno. Cheechoo atleast shows the willingness to try hard out there.
And to get Filatov we would have to give CBJ Karlsson or Cowen.... are you guys fine with that? cause i sure as hell am not and i am sure Murray wont trade them either for a guy who ran off to the KHL went sent to the AHL.
-HSF
Another extra note on The Folingo move.
Here is my new take. Folingo stopped getting ice time against the Sharks after he took that Goalie interference penalty. That call was complete crap and Folingo let the Ref have it over it.
Maybe this is not only a Message to the team to stop chirpin the Refs. But also a message to the Refs that Clouston respects them and is going to start holding his team accountable for disrespecting them.
I like Foligno - even got his jersey - but maybe coach is just trying to give him a spark - he has been taking some penalties lately - and I don't think it hurts to sit him for one game - he'll be back next game. Shannon has been flying lately and I think he is ready to tear it up like he did last year. He adds a spark to the powerplay too. We should be able to get the win tonight boys as LA is cool as of late.
Go SENS
foligno has been struggling, but to healthy scratch him over keller is a weird decision. its not like ryan shannon is producing either or jonathan cheechoo. i think he should put spezza on the 4th line for the first period, spezza has shown that when he gets called out he comes out playing with heart and dominates games, clouston needs to call him out for his horrendous play of late
Guys, Shannon is a very good player, he can skate like the wind, as well as skating back and contributing on D. Clouston is just rewarding hard work.
I have to agree with HAX here, there has to be some reason that we have not heard yet about for benching Foligno, and letting Keller play, so we should just all wait it off a tiny bit.
Ottawa's goal for tonight's match....... DO NOT TAKE A TOO MANY MEN PENALTY! God, they are pissing me off.
This move is a head scratcher. He hustles every night and works hard. If you're going to bench someone bench Cheechoo. What kind of NHL'er falls on his ass every time he has to turn?!
I think that foligno and picard/lee may be part of a trade... perhaps with chicago? i was thinking a guy murray might be interested in looking at could be byfuglien... he is the big physical guy you could put in the top 6 and also you could put him on the point for power plays has he has a rocket shot and used to play defense.. he is also very effective in front of the net... foligno is a guy chicago would be very interested in though... young big and cheap
Is there a LiveBlog tonight chirp ?
No, sorry guys. No live blog tonight. I woulda been up for one but the Score has their own schedule.
Next Senators game being covered is Sunday I believe.
Ouch, Columbus going from a playoff team last year to losing to the Leafs, thats gotta sting. If I were the GM I would pull the trigger on a trade whether its with Ottawa or who-ever.
Ugh, TSN. McGuire's love-in for Kopitar will be all over the TV tonight.
thanks TSN for pre-empting the Sens game for basketball!!!!...TSN is REALLY pissing me off lately. I thought CBC was bad, but every Sens headline on TSN lately is a passive agressive bashing of the Sens, its pathetic.
anze kopitar will be monster of the game
I wonder if the Leafs were playing on TSN tonight if the B-ball game would still be on? Also, why does 2 mins in B-ball take 15 mins to play?
holy f.... basketball is too much . ten friggin minutes to play the last two. missing half the first period right now. too bad we werent like the leafs, tsn woulda just left the bball for hockey. but we are ottawa so who cares.
Screw you Shannon haters!
dumb play by Kuba :(
I guess Pierre mcguires erection of the night will be doughty/kopitar/the forechecking of Dustin brown. Shut the fuck up Pierre
wow, the refs aren't trying to have too much impact in this game are they?
That Simmons break was all Karlson's fault. Had he shot it would not have happened. Instead he chose to pass a very high risk pass. Stupid play. I sure hope he works that out of his game.
On a side note. How F'ing long did the last 4 minutes of that stupid NBA game take to play!
I hate McGuire.
you guys should have flipped to tsn 2. they actually were supposed to play a different basketball game and instead started broadcasting hockey until the other game was over.
and i agree that mcguire is the biggest douchebag on earth. there was a pole going on another site to see which player pierre would want to have his way with. Ovechkin and Richards ran away with it, but after tonight i'm thinking that brown and doughty might be in the running.
thata boy cheechooooooo
Is anyone as glad as I am watching this game that the Heatley deal did not get done with LA? Frolov is just brutal out there. Michalek is a champ and Cheech is showing signs of life. GO SENS GO
Arghhhhh, the past couple games it just seems like we keep shooting ourselves in the foot! All these untimely goals and penalties occur RIGHT when we start taking over the game.
Kuba is not having his best game, but I think Karlsson is playing very well tonight. Let's hope for a quick one in the 3rd on the pp and then we can just grind it out for the win.
GO SENS GO.
Fish with the trick? I'd bet on it.
Frolov is as advertised an enigma much like the 5 million enigma on the sens I don't no why ppl are always posting on here Murray needs to get Frolov bla bla give Filatov a few more years he is the next Zherdev.
Pierre must want to bone Phillips too he has been giving him props all night you guys are douchebags Mcguire knows what he is talking about.
The parade to the penalty box continues. At what point does Clouston stop blaming the ref's and start holding players accountable for thier lack of judgement/discipline. All three penalties at the end of the first were just embarassing. Tie the game, right back to the box to fall behind again. Lee wasn't exactly a phyical presence, but Karlson is clearly a boy in a man's game. The frustrating part, is 5-5 on Ottawa is starting to really gel, their compete level is amped up. Their able to overcome falling behind by a goal or two something they couldn't do last year. Hopefully Murray has a puck-shooting D man on his Christmas shopping list, teams don't fear our point shots on the PP so they just sit back and watch us cycle the puck unti we turn it over. Based on Murray's trading record with the Sens it we may be better off waiting for Karlson or Cowen to fill this road down the season.
not sure how Foligno was benched in favor of Keller? LOL - what a joke...I dont care if he had a bad game, that is terrible...
The sens look so disorganized out there. Their play is a complete mess. So frustrating to see all the missed passes and weak rushes. Hope Murray can solidify a half decent Blueline this coming offseason.
Wow.....what a weird game.....
I thought kuba was terrible tonight
thot Kuba struggled a lot that game...as well as elliot- and some of u were complaining about leclaires weak goals...fish played great, and i was impressed by karlson
@mikep lee wasnt evan playing
this team is shit! i hate that we have a ahl quality team. heres wat we do, trade spezza and kuba and lee and campoli. get wat we can from them and revamp this team.. im starting to dislike clouston a lot.. like fuck this is so frustrating. im not a fare whether fan but at least the leafs are entertaining everynight and show heart. this team just blows.
Frustrating game tonight as Sens were the better team through 2 periods and crumbled in the last 5 minutes. If I'm Clouston I have to start questioning Jason Spezza's effort level. I'm hoping hes playing with some nagging injury, but its looking more and more like a Spezza of years past when he started off this season in the trenches along the boards and backchecking. Maybe hes been hanging out with Kovalev too much. It would be interesting to see what this road trip could have been with Leclaire in net. Elliott sure hasn't had the timely saves that Leclaire has spoiled us with so far. GO SENS GO
Keep the undisciplined hockey going guys...absolutely rediculous!!! This team will start winning games when they get a solid blueline...theres only so much Volks and Philly can do! These losses are not coming at surprise anymore...up next a tough phoenix club...yikes!
To Anon at 1:07 AM,
Cmon man. Get real...
i agree with him sens chirp, to some degree.. this team isnt playing like they should be.. and spezza and kuba arent playing well. but we will see.
so who will explain this:
the leafs who lack a legitimate centreman, light up columbus for 6 goals.
the senators who have atleast 2 legitimate centremen, proven wingers can't light up if their lives depended on it.
these guys just take too many penalties. and that is what is absolutely killing this team right now. just wayy too many penatlies. carkner was done in the third period. he had absolutely no energy left. you could tell from his mere stick movement that he was absolutely gassed. it shouldnt be that hard to run a shortened bench. but the penalties killed our defensemen.
whatever. im finally pissed at the coaching staff of this team and its about time some heads roll from the coaching staff. i think the coaching staff is just not effective enough and is making dubious decisions left right and centre. how does kelly get to play still with a dumb penalty in each and every game. hell man he takes penalties in the middle of the sens dominating in the offensive zone. i mean wtf is up with that.
and will spezza please show up for the game next time? whats up with him getting kicked out of faceoffs so often. it happens way too often and results in a lost faceoff right away. and i know the cheerleaders on this board will come out in his defense. but spezza is laying stinking rotten goose eggs on the ice right now. he is being lazy. his killer instinct has just disappeared. and if anyone here doenst blv me, just watch spezza's body language and attitude when he is in the faceoff circle. his mind and heart are just not there and it is killing this team right now, the second line is clicking today's game was ample proof of that. kovalev is doing his job. i just dont think spezza is totally vested. noone can obviously say what it is. but he is just not a 100% vested in winning and giving yet. something is up. he might be injured. but i dont think it is injury, they wont let him go for sucha long unproductive stretch with injury.
the honeymoon is over. clouston better get ready for the crunch now.
i know ppl will jump on anon@1:07,
but unfortunately he right about the leafs. for all the crap they have on their team, they still play well beyond expectation. and sometimes they are actually fun to watch. yea it sucks to even say that as a sens fan. but at the same time as a hockey fan you have to admit it.
my bet is that if this current run of losing turns into a slump, and i know people will cry about this, but if turns into a slump, management and coaching heads will roll.
Thing is this team was playing good hockey until the road trip started.
The West Coast trip is always brutal for Ottawa.
The good news is a loss like this hopefully gives Clouston reason to juggle all the lines up front. Its just not working right now.
Just gotta win one or two over the weekend and get back on track.
this is the dude who posted at 1:07.. im sorry i overreacted, its just im a die hard fan and just get so mad when they loose very win able games. so sorry SC and other fans. lets hope we win the next one!

So let me get this straight, you like watching a team that was winless in its first 10 games?
a team that is 2nd to last in the Eastern standings?
Wow, I mean wow, you are much the idiot!
Any team can win on any given day, doesnt mean if the Leafs beat CBJ than we should too, we did btw but thats not the point.
But its ok you like to watch the Lafs, according to you a very exciting team!!! LMAO!!
