The Ottawa Senators are in Phoenix tonight to take on the Coyotes for a 10:00 PM start. Originally there was no TV coverage planned but NHL Centre Ice has picked up the game meaning it will be available to Centre Ice Subscribers.
The Coyotes, winners of three straight, currently sit in 7th in the Western Conference. Phoenix has really been turning heads early this season and is coming off a 2-1 victory over the Flames on Thursday night.
A couple line up notes heading into the game this evening. Alex Picard will miss the game with what the team is calling an upper body injury. Chris Campoli steps into his spot.
Nick Foligno will draw back in this evening. His return likely means that Ryan Keller will come out.
Some more juggling in those top two lines...
Michalek-Spezza-Shannon
Kovalev-Fisher-Alfredsson
Ruutu-Kelly-Cheechoo
Regin-Winchester-Foligno
Brian Elliott starts in goal.
In an interesting twist, Brian Lee was scratched from the Binghamton Senators line up last night. The team is saying he has the flu but from what I understand he has been practicing with the team. Definitely something to keep an eye on.
Lastly, if you haven't checked out THE 6th SENS podcast I highly recommend you do. In week one they sat down with Senators founder Bruce Firestone and this week they speak with Puck Daddy of Yahoo Sports. Definitely worth a listen. Here's the link to their latest podcast...

As with many of the posts, I don't understand why Shannon is getting a chance with Spezza and Michalek. Spezza needs a shooter to dish too. Cheechoo wants to regain his previous form. Cheechoo can shoot. He may not be the best skater, but can provide a different dimension to that line. Why not try and boost Cheechoo's confidence for a few games instead of relegating him to 3rd, 4th line duty. If Clouston did that for a few games at least we could say, yes it worked or no put him on the back end of the roster. Plus someone had previously mentioned that Michalek, Spezza and Cheechoo is basically the same as the San Jose equivalent with Thorton (well, not quite on paper though ;) ). It's terrible that that San Jose line is a top candidate for Team Canada. But, country comes first so go Canada!
Concerning Shannon, I think adds alot of speed and when he's on his game is quite effective, however i'm not sure the chemistry is quite there. He should be with Foligno.
Go Sens! Let's get back in the win column!
I'm anxious to hear why Lee was scratched. If it really is the flu, then no problem. If it is something else, then the verdict is in. This team needs new management.
Lee is a top ten draft pick who is being mishandled. If they want to trade him out of the organization, then you build him up so that you get a lot in return. You do not tear him down and give him a bad rap.
There's a trend here. All players that the team wants to get rid of are torn apart. Corvo didn't want to be here. Emery was a cancer. Heatley wants more ice time.
I'm tired of it. These are not bad guys. They are just guys that the GM doesn't want on the team.
Stupid Shannon nut-hugger.
I agree with anon @ 2:40pm.
Put Cheechoo with Spezza. Shannon should not be on the first line. He has no finish.
At least Cheechoo has shown that he can play that role successfully in the past.
Bryan Murray hasn't been terrible but he hasn't been very good either. It will be interesting to see how the Lee situation gets handled.
Spezza and Chechoo might be a good duo offensively but I think Clouston might be concerned about how they would play together in their own end. Michalek and Alfie had some chemistry, wondering why they are being split up.
Anon 2:42, you raise some good points.
about the mishandling of Lee, I wouldn't necessarily linkl the other cases to Lee's however.
Still we are in agreement that the time has come for Murray to move on.
Other than some of his drafting,
He has failed in every other aspect during his tenure as GM.
To Phoenix
Lee
Kelly
2nd rounder
To Ottawa
Upshall
Michalek
DO IT.
OMG, the Ducks are planning to make a pitch for Kovalev.
Muuuuaaahhhhhaahahahahah!!!!!
Anon 3:00pm
Not a bad trade proposal but I don't think Phoenix does it. To me, Kelly's usefulness compared to his salary makes him a negative to any team acquiring him.
Don't know much about Michalek however, what kind of dman is he?
What a surprise. CBC, not having television coverage of a Sens game on a Saturday night? How unlike them. /end sarcasm
What the hell. They couldn't go out west to get coverage of the CAPTIAL OF CANADA'S team on SATURDAY? But of course the Calgary game is on, heaven forbid viewers in Ottawa were to miss out on that one.
- oO Karlsson Oo
Can't be true,
I do believe you may have misread that
Like a lot of Sens Fans, I agree with you Anon 2:40 PM. Spezza needs a shooter, Shannon, is cheaper version of Vermette, fast skater but not a great shot. If Clouston's goal is to extend Spezza's slump I think he will succeed, but at this point it can't get any worse for Jason. While Checcho was a shooter, injuries have taken thier toll and his speed and shot aren't really top line material. Murray has hinted at the desire to pick up another top forward. I would assume this aquisition would be to give Spezza the finisher he needs to be effective. In the meantime it would be nice if Spezza would refrain from these blind passes to the opposition. The Sens have been pretty effective with the cycle latley it would be nice if more Sens players would go to the slot to take advantage of these opportunities, at the moment Michalek seems to be the only one doing so. I hope Lee really has the flu. Lee was an undersized D-man, he's finally put on some weight and he seemed to be moving in the right direction. It seems a little early to be giving up on a 22 year old d-man, perhaps Clouston and Murray should have went out of thier way to mention Lee's two way contract along with the desire to give him larger minutes to develop! Camploi has been useless this year but I haven't heard anyone with the Sens calling him out on it. Clouston seems a little hard on rookies while being a little soft on verterns. At this point Chris Kelly should be held accountable for averaging what seems like one interference penalty a game. While goaltending didn't help in LA, the 6 minors we took really torpedo any chance of winning we might have had. The 3 penalties at the end of the first were particularly stupid, (Chris Kelly-Interference, Alfie-Retalation, Volchie-Hand on puck). If the Sens continue to spend this much time in the box, they will pay a higher and higher price as time goes on through goals, injuries or fatigue.
If anybody finds a stream for tonight please let us know. I will be looking for one once we move closer to 10pm.
Cheers, and GO SENS GO
Honestly not trying to be negative just realistic how many teams do you think you would see a guy take over gm coming off a finals appearance, go thru a coaching carosel end up missing the playoffs 2 years later and still have a job?
all my non sens supporting friends ask me this all the time and I don't have a good awnser for them.
I think the lack of Campoli hate = ppl that don't want to mention what an epic fail of a trade that was by BM
I think you mean Anaheim is looking at Kovalchuk... only one team wants Kovalev and wee all know who that is.
the rumor is for koval-CHUK not Koval-EV.
um shannon on first line is yet another failed experiment by clouston regards to our first line.
Alfie on second line makes sense, but why put him there, as far as i can see, that second line is clicking (fisher had two goals last game, kovalev and shannon each had 1 assist). its not the chemistry on the first line thats disappeared, its spezza's interest and motivation in the faceoff circle.
Hm, if you compare across the league, the amount of blunders that BM has on his hands in the last three years, he might be the luckiest GM around. for example, BM went through three coaches including himself before arriving at Clouston. Also, BM gave Kelly that bloated contract. Also, BM gave emery that contract. Also, BM did that shit Campoli trade. Hm, except for the leclaire deal, and because of the nature of the heatley deal, and yea ok i will give the drafting. he really hasnt been a great GM for this club. I would say on Balance, if you were to pit his positives against his negatives, he's been a crap GM. however, he is still here and he isnt completely a bonehead, so i guess he can live along right now.
tougher game than the LA game tonight. Bryzgalov really is like another volchenkov, just that he is a goaltender. Btw guys, i was wiki-ing volchki, and he was a goalie to start with. can you blv that. no wonder he blocks shots like he does. haha. Also, Tippet coached teams play systems very well.
I dont know about you guys, but would any of you agree that Clouston is maybe a bad tactician? He is good strategy/system wise, but not good tactic wise i think.
here's to hoping that spezza finally decides he wants to play for canada and absolutely runs wild on the coyotes.
Fire Carvel- Our Powerplay sucks and has since Perry Pearn left.
oh and to add.
here is also to hoping that they dont take ANY penalties today. although with kelly in the lineup, im hoping against basically a guaranteed guarantee.
why is kelly still in the lineup man. this whole accountability shenanigan with this team still seems very hartsburg like. it seems only rookies are accountable, and that too because the stars on this team dont decide to show up. quite pathetic.
sigh......
my god , what the fuck is wrong with our coach and shannon????
The question is, how much further can Shannon rise?
He's gone from a healthy scratch to top line right winger.
Whats next?
Team Captain?
http://www.atdhe.net/# has a stream listed for the game tonight. Hopefully it works for us non-NHL Centre Icers.
haha....i got a better one SC- he is the next GM of the ottawa senators with this kind of meteoric rise.
Murray hasn't been THAT bad. His drafting appears to be good even though there's no real way to tell yet, he made a good trade with Mezaros and hasn't crippled us with awful UFA's (see Jeff Finger and Brian Campbell). He gave away a 26th overall pick for Campoli which was pretty much a flop but that the time seemed good. He traded the oft. injured Eaves and Uh oh Joe for two guys that left, I'd call that one a wash. There really isn't any move that he made where at the time I personally yelled ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!
Pardon my swearing but I feel it's in need the fucking guy has 5 assists how the hell is that going to help the top line jesus christ, Shannon did have a pretty good game against LA but playing the best game in his career this guy does not belong on the first line let alone 2nd and wouldn't be top 6 on the damn leafs.
We got 1st round picks getting shafted like Lee and now Foligno who is going to play on the 4th line while this waiver wire plug gets top line and coddled like he was a number 1 overal pick wtf. In light of being positive hopefully he gets a tap in goal or a rebound although im sure that will = a few idiots who will come on here and say eat it shannon haters bla bla
heres to hoping we dont gety stomped tonight
however, shannon doesnt deserve all the bashing we are giving him. he doesnt take stupid penalties which some of the overpaid clowns on this team do take regularly every game at the wrong times only to put this team down and nothing else (yes Kelly im talking about YOU). he does work hard to compensate for his size.
I don't like Shannon on the top line either -- 3rd line at most. I think they already had him on the top line and that didn't work.
Put Cheecho on the top line the same as the season started. We seemed to be going good then. Cheecho tries hard and actually goes to the front of the net... some other players should do that too. My concern is with Elliott -- he needs to be better. He was very good at the beginning of the year and until Leclaire got injured. Maybe the pressure?? or fire the goalie coach...
Leclaire they are saying will be at least a couple of weeks before he can get his mask on.. that doesn't sound good.. he may be out longer than a month -- I hope not we need him now!!!
Shannon has been playing hard the last few games so seeing him on the top is a reward for his hard work. I agree that Cheechoo does deserve more ice time for his hard work. It would interseting to see if Clouston will put Cheechoo on the 2nd PP unit with the simple instructions of "Park yourself in front of the goalie". That way he could get more goals and it worked for Michalek so why not give Cheechoo a chance.
As for anon @ 2:42 comments. I'll say this for the last time. Corvo couldn't handle the heat from fans and media. Emery's antics and his behaviour simply alianated himself and forced management to buy-out his contract simply because they felt that the team neded a fresh start. Heatley had numerous arguements with teammates, he also couldn't stand taking crap from the media and fans when his shield of players/gms/coaches was destroyed. Let's forget the rumors of him partying and having an affair with Speeza's wife.
I think it's time they try Kovalev with Spezza. Everything I know about hockey tells me that it wouldn't work but they have to try it to know. Something like,
Michalek Spezza Kovalev
Foligno Fisher Alfie
If it doesn't work, try something else or put it back to what it was before. I don't see the harm in trying. Even though I don't think Kovalevs effort deserves top line minutes, Spezza doesn't either so whatever.
if any one shud b on the top line its goligno hes got good skill
I think Murray getting credit for good drafting is overdone it is the scouting staff that needs credit if you want to credit Murray for having a good scouting staff than by all means.
engin, funny you said that about heatley and spezza;s wife.
the way heatley seems to brush away the media each time they poke him about the trade, the way he talks its always as if he is holding alot of the info back. and it gives the feeling that there really is a helluva lot more to it than what we know. also the way ottawa players and organization are toeing the same bottom line that he just didnt want to be there is interesting too. no-one is really too keen to talk or they have all agreed among themselves to just stay shut over it. its going to be interesting quite a many years from now when people like Neil, Fisher, Alfie, and phillips will probably get a chance to talk about what really has gone on in ottawa over the past three years since the stanley cup final.
A dose of reality for you boys...
Bryan is a great GM.
Ryan is with #19 to improve the speed they got embarrassed in LA.
Kovy and Alf will work.
Kelly is the one covering for and carying Cheech.
#71; #18; #43 will work if they play Regin @ center.
Picard's speed, energy and minutes (ice time) will be missed by our aging DEFENCE!
Haha...nhlsources say had this on his twitter:
"A source has told me the Ducks may be putting together a package together to get Kovalev, he also states Ryan, Getzlaf, and Perry are not involved"
Obviously dude meant to say Kovalchuk...he has since deleted the tweet. But, I still have the evidence on my phone - just like one of Tiger's bitches!
Heatley is a jealous little bitch. It happened with Kovalchuk. It happened with Alfie. And it will happen with Marleau.
No surprise that he didn't, and won't, have problems with the guys who breast feed him: Marc Savard, Spezza, and Thornton.
Don't worry, BM would be sure to turn down anything short of Crosby or Ovechkin for Kovalev. Even then, he'd expect the Caps and Pens to throw in a pick and take Cheechoo to close the deal.
who the fuck is tiger??
Lay off Murray; the guy is a proven drafter. You'd think that after we got our asses kicked by Perry and Getzlaf in the cup final, a couple of us would know that Murray picked them BOTH up in the same draft year. If guys like Leiner, Weircioch, Karlsson and Cowen are tearing it up a few years down the line, and Murray isn't here/ doesn't get the credit he desserves, it'll be a disgrace. I'm disgusted at the ammount of credit that Burke was given for that Stanley Cup; the only moves he made were short term solutions like trading for Pronger(and guess what Leafs fans... he's still doing it!!)
I'm still pissed that Muckler drafted Eaves instead of Cory Perry.
What happened to the Sens after the run to the Stanley Cup.. when some of the players left.. Murray goes to Binghamton Senators for replacements -- guess what -- nobody there. Mr. Muckler traded everything away. Not only could Muckler not draft -- he traded away previous management draft picks and prospects.. eg. Brooks Laich for Peter Bondra.. need I go on. Bryan Murray had to rebuild the farm system from scratch.
As for Heatley.. the only reason I think he wanted out was the Sens were losing. He did not like the reporters critizing everything and everybody. He saw the golden road in San Jose and he wanted out of Ottawa. He wants to play for a team only when it is winning. He thinks being in San Jose he's going to win a Cup. Well Mr. Heatley ask Marion Hossa how well that strategy works. San Jose will have a great regular season and Heatley will pile on the goals... but when playoffs come.. we will see how far San Jose goes. His centreman, Joe Thornton, does not do well in the playoffs.
Do ya think we are deep enough with our d-man where we can afford to trade a prospect like Lee, who largely we can agree has made some good strides forward this year?
Excuse the run on sentence, I've had a few...
My bad,
Cory Perry was drafted one spot before Eaves. Still it would've been nice to see Ottawa drafting Cory Perry.
Since 2002 draft only Foligno Eaves and Mezaros have played a full season out of all sens draft picks. That is disturbing
Fact number 2 other than Karlsson and Zack Smith 1 or 2 games no Murray draft picks have played for the Sens yet so his great drafting for this team cannot be rated yet.
mmm to many Murray fans, Murray is pretty good drafting for Bingo thats it
Most of Murray's draft picks are still in US colleges. Not sure of the timing on when they will be out of college.. but there are some good players coming.
There are several good ones in Sweden -- Peterson, Silfverberg & Sandin (I think) -- we should see them in the World Juniors where I will be paying attention to Sweden's team..
In a couple of years these guys will be challenging for a spot on the Sens. We are behind other teams since Murray had to rebuild the farm system.. but it is coming.
I hope Melnyk waits him out.. I think it will be worth his while to do this. Murray is a good GM.. those that don't think so, don't know much about hockey.
Had an interesting chat with Shark fans tonight. What a breath of fresh air not to be talking to inarticulate and abusive leaf fans:
http://blogs.mercurynews.com/sharks/2009/12/05/dany-heatley-battling-flu-iffy-for-tonights-game-against-calgary/comment-page-1/#comment-49960
Link for tonight www.atdhe.net
6:22 is dead on.
Here's some thoughts for you guys
-Murray had as much to do with Anaheims cup as anyone. (Perry, Getzlaf, Penner, Kunitz), Perry and Getzlaf were absolute steals both in the same draft
-A championship in Ottawa will be built through the draft, or there may be no championship. Were not NY, LA, Anaheim, Detroit. Free agents are not dying to come here, they never have.
-Modern Senators success was built near exclusively through the draft
-Although Murray's drafting thus far appears to be very good, much better than we had before him, its too early to start calling out Murray to be fired, its ludicrous actually.
-Managing salaries with the cap is extremely important, Murray's made a couple mistakes. Cap management gets much easier if you draft well, so give it more time.
-And to the moron that said credit his staff and not Murray. Its HIS staff dummy, he's in charge of the personnel he works with, and they ultimately report to him.
-He coached the most successful Sens team since the beginning in 93 (he deserves some respect and time)
It took getting through 70% of the posts in this blog to find something intelligent.
Thank You Engin. And don't get to worked up with all the idiots that continuously rant on people who actually do their job like Murray, Shannon, Picard, etc. They're the same idiots that wanted Alfie gone the year of the Cup run.
Lots of dumb people out there... It's disappointing to know they're in this city.
Murray is a terrible GM. We used to be contenders. Now we're pretenders.
If you can't see that it was Muckler that completely fucked this team up, you are an idiot.
Murray is overrated as well. He lucked out with a few draft picks...wow wee.
Eaves and Corvo for Commodore and Stillman?????????
Awful trade. Murray's had his bad moments too, but nobody could outdo Muckler's horrendous trading and drafting.
For Example: Acquired Tom Preissing, Josh Hennessy, Michal Barinka and a 2nd round pick (Patrick Wiercioch) in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft from Chicago Blackhawks for Martin Havlat and Bryan Smolinski on July 10, 2006
That is Milbury territory.
How that guy keeps getting jobs is beyond me.
Thank god Murray forced him out. Looks like Ted Nolan was right all along. Muckler is a chump that has been living off of 80's Edmonton glory (along with Slats) for 25 years without EVER doing anything else.
He wasted the gift #9 pick on Brian freaking Lee when he could have had Kopitar or Staal... Of course hindsight is 20 / 20 but Staal was a sure thing.
Nice work if you can get it.
The guy is just an idiot.
7:41 You dumb fuck I did say give credit to Murray for having a good staff.
The scouting staff tells the GM who to take period. my point was everyone says we can't fire Murray he is so good at drafting bla bla well if you fired Murray and retained the scouting staff they would still be picking the same guys. Why do you think so many teams let there scouting directors announce the selection because it is there pick!
Perfect example although it is doucher Burke from there draft video adressing scouts "who's sittin there Kardi,Kassian Cowen, whoever you guys want .... the russian kid"
"At #7 it's a good group were getting a good player, just a question of who you guys want to pick"
So by those statements how much credit should be given to Burke if the leafs 09 draft class turns out to be good ?
What a shitshow this leafs game is lol No matter the outcome of the sens game we can all breathe easy that we are not leaf fans
Before the Eaves/Corvo trade many many people were saying that we needed more grit and experience - that's what Murray traded for - he rolled the dice and lost, but it wasn't a bad trade. We gave up a serial underachiever and a guy who was so desperate to get out of Ottawa he would have bought his own plane ticket.
The bad part of that trade was that neither Commodore nor Stillman signed with Ottawa long term - if we had had a more functional team and room they might have.
Murray's only real mistake was allowing the room to fall apart on his watch.
you forgot to mention the one that hurt the most.....wade redden over chara!!!
Well this atdhe.net stream is not working for me, maybe they aren't broadcasting yet?
anybody got another?
Any one in Ott. trying to use http://www.atdhe.net/# ??
Doesnt seem to be working for me, just coloured bars.
If so, Let me know pls.
Go SENS Go.
Still looking for a live stream...this sucks!
atdhe.net isnt working for the sens game...still looking...
It doesn't seem to be on Center Ice either!!! I am with SHAW in Vancouver... does anyone know which station it would be on?
Sounds like this was supposed to be a radio only broadcast. NHL Centre Ice people will be the only ones able to view a video broadcast.
still looking for a stream also....
need a big win tonight
oh well, its not like we are going to miss much, i have a feeling they will lose to phx anyway...so frustrating...sigh.
It looks like nothing in Phoenix is working!
Who knew?
2-0...
2-0 phoenix great start
Oh its already 1-0 yotes... great.
This is unacceptable. Are we the only fans in Canada that miss out on so many televised games? Crap, 2-0 PHX....................
Maybe the sens will start playing more consistently when Murray realizes that his Blueline is brutal!!!
Great, here we go again...but really, is it really any surprise that we are losing to phoenix???
2 shots in 12 minutes! Awesome job guys! Awesome!
cheechoo 2 shots of the teams 6
any live blogs tonight Chirp
http://www.justin.tv/tb4u22/popout/?publisher_guard=
This link seems to be working
maybe they should try fisher cheechoo michalek they seem like the only player trying to win the last couple games
post by fisher
No Live Blog tonight and for that I am thankful. Looks like the makings of another lame effort.
Add to that the lame combination of scoreboard cam and Coyotes radio broadcast to make for the worst Senators game of the season.
Haha, you got that right Chirp, great job by Gary and the boys to sell the Yotes game to the fans and the city of Phx!
"Add to that the lame combination of scoreboard cam and Coyotes radio broadcast to make for the worst Senators game of the season."
How Sens fans are expected to tolerate this is beyond comprehension. We should be able to catch televised broadcast of Sens games.
the stream working for anyone? not for me
SensChirp, I just tuned to the Ottawa game on NHL Center Ice and I can't believe the NHL is okay with putting a broadcast like that on TV. Unreal. The camera and the commentary are out of sync! They were showing commercials when Phoenix scored their second goal. Never would you see this in the other three sports - we are not a bush league so why do they sell us as such with this kind of TV?
I'm sorry Mr. Bettman but if a kid in Phoenix growing up playing football sees a Coyotes broadcast like tonight's you've certainly not made a fan but likely an adversary who will make fun of the game of hockey and those that watch it.
Disgraceful.
Sens better kick some Coyote butt tonight.
NOTE: I'm sure a lot of you in Ottawa are happy to get the game on TV despite the feed so it's better than nothing and I'd hate to have that taken away from you guys! But I'm just saying this blows.
Elliot has a huge 5 hole!
http://www.justin.tv/tb4u22/popout/?publisher_guard=
it works
3rd line player its best hockey right now.
Just handing out hands full of tickets. Good business model Gary
Those weren't hockey tickets. It flashed that the whole section won free car washes from some local business.
Ah I see.
You'll have to forgive me for not being on top of the ridiculous graphics we are being forced to watch.
This is horrible.
Time to start playing for the draft pick - essentially if they lose out on this road trip, they may as well just kiss any 'race' good bye that they hope to be in.
What a joke. Hurry back Pascal - you're our only hope.
3-0 for Coyotes....
Elliot isn't look good, our defense is showing gaps
forwards are skating hard but passing isn't so hot.
ugh....
elliot is brutal... we dont need him to steal games we just need him to keep us in them... he cant even do that
To Anon at 11:16 PM,
Yes because they may be a full two points out. Get real.
Hey Chirps, just wondering what your take is on the Sens problems...Where do you think they should make changes...I have the boyz over and we're all debating on what should be done to remedy their problems.
No wonder why the guysdidn't solute the fans last year. It's because of all the bullshit they dealt from you fucking idiots.
Let's see, tough road trip, top goalie out, why not bring up the 160 pound rookie and shred his confidence?
So far we have 5 goals for, 14 against for the western trip.
Honestly, not one forward or defenseman would make the top line for San Jose (alright, maybe Alfie and Michalek might be close).
What happened? Losing faith in a big hurry.
its going to be hard to rebuild but they should start trading for draft picks, this team is not doing well thanks BM nice work
i think he's just upset with our road trip chirp.
-4v4 now thanks to Karlsson holding call.
ugh x2
fyi - hot chicks in Phoenix
GJ camera man.
To Anon at 11:23 PM,
Few issues right now obviously. Missing their #1 goalie hurts.
The blueline needs help, badly. Could probably use two more guys back there to be honest.
Its not realistic though. Quick fix is probably not the answer I guess.
This has been brutal...from the quality of the broadcast to the way the sens are playing..Elliot looks absolutely terrible..I have those old fears of every shot going in!! We need leclaire back asap..the east is way to tight to have a skid like this...we absolutely need a win tomorow night...
This game is painful to watch, and not because of the crappy tv feed.
PL
yes a quick fix is not the way this western trip I can see what kind of team we really have, the way the fans react in Ottawa is they dont show up for games, I feel they should go after the core of the team is the only way to fix it. start trading for draft picks get a new GM and go at it again.
Does anyone the attendance at this game? Brutal I'm sure like everything else about hockey in Phoenix.
we need a fresh outlook for this team. Get rid of murray, he seems to overrate players every year (kovalev) and get a gm that is willing to rebuild. Even if we tough it out to make the playoffs, we dont have ANY forwards coming up, which is a huge problem. looking up 5 years from now, rebuilding might be better than coasting around 8th for the next 10(kinda like the leafs did.)
cheechoo with 2 points tonight. great game for his line.
Another loss. Not surprised. Losing faith...this sucks!!! Nite Lads.
Who is available for GM? Any solid GMs out there that are looking for work? DOUBT IT!!!
melnyk told murray to go after kovalev, Murray didnt have a choice to get kovalev or he was probably fired. They talked about this on the hot stove a couple weeks back. this was all Melnyk.
