Tonight's Live Blog

As I mentioned earlier, I'll be live blogging tonight's Devils/Senators game over at theScore.com. Had a pretty good turnout for the last Senators game I did over there so it should be a good time tonight too.

A quick note on the Forsberg rumour mentioned in the Ottawa Sun this morning. This actually came up with a contact I spoke to earlier this week. He suggested to me that the Eugene Melnyk has already given Murray the go ahead to pursue Forbserg, should the Senators GM decide thats something he wants to do.

The reality is, Forsberg has not yet decided if he will return to the NHL and is apparently considering an offer to play in the KHL. Seems to me the NHL is the more likely choice for Forsberg but he certainly seems to have options.

If Foppa does decide to make a return to the NHL, expect the Avalanche and the Flyers to be the front runners. Both teams have started the season strong and are teams that Forsberg has suited up for in the past.

With that said, Bruce Garrioch is bang on. The Ottawa Senators will definitely have interest in Forsberg should he decide to make yet another come back to the NHL.

Hope to see some of you at the live blog tonight

Sounds like Eugene is ready to send Cheechoo to Bingo and will eat his contract. I'll take a gimpy Forsberg over Cheechoo any day.

Reagardless of where he ends up hope Forsberg can make a return it is a shame to see some one so talented have their career cut short from injuries especially ones as random as foot problems.

Foppa would look good playing with Alfie. But not for anything more than 2.5mil...

oh god leave forsberg where he is right now we dont need another old ass player on our team and plus he is way past his prim alfie or no alfie

You have no idea how much I appreciate the live blog. I am stuck at work every other Saturday night, so I miss a lot of games. And our PCs here block streaming audio and video, so this is perfect for me! Thanks very much! :) See you in there!

guys whats the line up??

Rob: you better have one kick-ass pension. I couldn't work for a place that would make the effort to block streaming.

I think your bang on that Foppa will end up in Colorado or Philly. Ottawa has no chance. He will be looking for a chance to win the Cup, or go back to his "NHL home", which is Colorado.

From a PR standpoint, it benefits Ottawa to say that they are chasing Forsberg. They want to show the fans that they will do anything to win. But truthfully, I'm sure that even the Sens know that they have no chance.

I don't think we have much chance of seeing either Forsberg in Ottawa or Cheechoo in Bingo. Ever.

Leafs better than the Senators...proof tonight!!! Have the Sens beat anyone who made it to the cup last year? no...Ottawa is awful and will miss the playoffs

Anonymous said...

Bye bye playoffs

Seriously, WTF is wrong with this team? gave up a 2 goal lead on dumb penalties? what, we can beat a high ranked team? AND WHERE THE F**K WAS KOVALEV???????

Anonymous said...

this is getting to be the same old story we need to send Cheechoo to bingo and Shannon or try to get a draft pick

ouch

defining game

last year sens lost a few bad ones to the islanders and the rest of the season was gonzo.

blew a lead to a tired team in new jersey tonight and really fell off the tracks.

i think this game will end up being more significant than the two points lost to the devils.

WHY soooo many penalties???

I would ditch Cheechoo in a second...honestly, after watching the NJ game and many others, this guy is trying, but sometimes that just isnt good enough, he just cant seem to get anything going at all and perhaps just doesnt have it. I for one was excited and thought a fresh start was going to do it for him...not even close.

The Sens found a way to beat themselves allowing 3 PP goals because they take retarded amounts of penalties. I know people will come on here and say its a conspiracy, but the fact is it happens almost every game where the easily get 6+ penalties...this is not a conspiracy. I dont care if they have a good PK, you cant take that many penalties....The refs IMO only missed 1 call and that was the high stick on alfie in the final 5min, but that doesnt change the fact that they take way too many penalties.

As for Leclaire, he continues to show flashes of brilliance but just cant seem to put together a dominant 60 min, that 2nd goal was when I knew the game was over, a total backbreaker! He by far has been great this year, but almost every game there seems to be some kind of questionable goal, I know he isnt perfect...but sometimes those are the goals that kill you.

Kovalev is just so disapointing to watch, I for one love the guy (and his hair), but seriously he wasnt even half the lazy player he was last year....he is just so un-involved out there.

Guys who continue to impress - the whole top line, Neil, Fisher.

IMO, the sens still need another player like Foppa...Shannon, Winchester, Cheechoo can all be either scratched or waived...total disapointments (I know Winchester has only played 1 game, but he has never impressed).

Clouston better start making the players accountable cause they are starting to become sloppy again. Also LeClaire needs to be benched. I'm sick and tired letting in a goal when the Sens need a save.

Sacul said...

I can't believe serious commenters talk about a player the Sens need and still come up with forwards. The Sens are well stocked with quality forwards...the HOLE is on D people!!!

Rob said...

How many times are we going to have to watch the Sens lose because they can't stop taking penalties?? This is getting REALLY old!

mikep said...

I completly agree about the Sens taking way too many penalties(majority of which don't prevent scoring chances, either lazy or selfish) Clouston needs to start cracking down. The Sens continue to lose to playoff teams, while scoring remains a problem much like it was last year.
