A Day of Remembrance

The Ottawa Senators skated today before heading out to Philly to face Ray Emery and the Flyers tomorrow night.

Alfredsson took the day with what will certainly be called bumps and bruises. Volchenkov skated before the team but will again be out of the line up on Thursday night.

Here are the lines from this mornings practice...

Michalek-Spezza-Winchester
Kovalev-Fisher-Cheechoo
Foligno-Regin-Shannon
Ruutu-Kelly-Neil-Donovan.

A quick aside on this day of remembrance.

Its on a days like this that the game that we love is really put into perspective.

Remembrance Day is a day we honour those that have fought for the freedom that we so often take for granted.

I would personally like to thank all those men and women that have served and continue to serve our country, and especially those who gave the ultimate sacrafice for the blessed lives that we live today.

If you see a veteran today, take the time to say thank you. This beautiful country that we live in would not be what it is today if not for the sacrifices made by so many brave men and women.

Was an amazing turnout this year..Saw a VERY touching moment this year, it is almost without fail that something makes me appreciate this day more every year.

SO I saw one of the Veterans fall right in front of me while they were walking past, a bunch of the Vets stopped to help him up, and then a few paramedics came and tried to get him to the side. Once back on his feet I could see him sort of shout something and keep going. Saw him talking to a few Vets afterward and laughing that the paramedics thought he couldn't keep walking. Overheard him say that he told them "I fought a damn war...and you are going to tell me I can't walk down the street by myself?". I had to go and shake his hand and say thank you after seeing and hearing that.

When will the coaching staff understand that winchester is not a first or second line player in the NHL?

ya why isn't alphy in the line up?

Relax guys. Alfredsson didn't practice today so Winchester (an extra forward) just held his place on that line.

Nothing to worry about.

You guys need to learn how to retain information better. SC said that Alfie was out of the line-up to rest up from "Bumps and bruises."

Hey SC, when can we expect Volchie to be back? (By your estimation)

Clouston said that today was a 'maintenance day' for Alfie. That's much better than 'bumps and bruises'. He was probably just in for his weekly high colonic.

I think what they say about kariya is even more true for alfie: "where alfie goes, points go." I'd like to see him playing with fish again, as he seems to be the only guy who can make fish put some points on the board.

Off topic question: What did everyone think of the Danton interview by Kypreos last night?

Chirp... You hearing anything about Sens/Hawks rumors?? Could we be getting our DMAN?

SensChirp said...

To Anon at 11:16,

Where are you hearing those rumours?

Anonymous said...

Hockeybuzz..... says hes looking into a Sens/Hawks rumour.... Figured I ask you if its real or not.....

SensChirp said...

Rumours come from so many different places these days its hard to tell.

I haven't heard anything specific but I'll ask around and see if there's anything out there.

Pls remove above posting... guy is an idiot.

Where's the "Freedom" that our grandparents lost their lives for when an honest opinion gets sh*t on and deleted for no reason. You have lost my respect SC.

To Anon at 12:00 PM,

I was going to leave the post up but decided it was a little over the top.

Nothing wrong with having an opinion but perhaps a little tact is required when expressing an opinion like that in a Remembrance Day post.

Hope you understand....
