Quick update on the status of Pascal Leclaire.
There is no word on how severe the injury is but according to Brent Wallace, Mike Brodeur has been recalled on an emergency basis to replace Pascal. Should know more about how severe the injury is after this morning's skate.
Alfredsson is not skating this morning but Volchenkov is out there with his teammates.
MIKE FISHER
But here we sit, the quarter mark of the NHL schedule and Mike Fisher is beginning to force Steve Yzerman and the Team Canada brass stand up and take notice. If going with the hot hand is gonna mean anything when the selections are made in late December you'd have to think Fisher is going to at least get a look.
The team is going to be extremely deep at centre with guys like Crosby, Getzlaf, Richards, Thornton, Toews and Stamkos already pushing for spots but where Fisher would be very useful is as a fourth line, two-way guy. Someone who can play the wing if need be but can also take a draw and kill penalties too.
I'm a big fan of Shane Doan but it's hard not to at least consider Fisher over the Team Canada veteran.
Fisher had a great World Championships and can do the same job a guy like Doan can. Difference is Doan has had a rather ordinary start to the season (6 goals/16 points) while Fisher is a point a game guy.
Fish is absolutely a long shot to make the team but as long as he keeps putting up points and scoring huge goals for the Senators, Team Canada has to consider him.

I agree with you Chrip. I think that Fisher deserves the spot more than Doan does. If he's not at least put on the starting roster, he should at least be put on the taxi squad.
Let's hope that Leclaire's injury is not too serious. He sure does have bad luck doesn't he?
Fish should definitely get a look on the 4th line... he sould be replacing Draper there.
Mike would be a warrior out there and guys feed off him. He deserves consideration from Stevie Y based on his play so far this year. Hope he keeps it up. Can't wait to get Kovalev back, nice chemistry he's got with Fish.
Fisher is playing great. Any news on the Chicago thing. I have a funny feling Volchenkov might be the bait with 2 Hawks guys coming this way. They are waiting for him to be clear medically I think.
Thats interesting as I was thinking the same thing. Would hate to lose Volchenkov...
Yea there hasn't been anything more on Chicago.
I've seen a couple different people mention that it was brifly up on ESPN as a done deal but disappeared.
It really seems as though the Hawks have shifted their focus to Sopel for the time being.
I hope Volchie is not going anywhere, he is a rare d-man in the league and a Sen through and through. I would not enjoy the idea of having to play against a team with A-Train coming at us, and blocking all our shots.
Hope he stays, and starts playing some games soon.
GO SENS GO!
Kinda want to see a Brodeur vs. Brodeur matchup tomorrow night against NJ...
it appears that Pascal Leclaire suffered a broken jaw and will be out for a while posted on tsn

Leclaire needs surgury to fix fractured cheek. Found on Sens twitter.
Apparently LeClaire is going to be out for 3-4 weeks with a fractured cheek bone.
Does Carrie have any sisters? Maybe Fish can hook up a couple of teammates too!
Interesting stat:
Fisher leads the league in Game Winning Goals with 4. That's clutch.
Love The Fish.
Oh man I Love this team
even when they P*** me off for days/weeks on end.
Team Enigma is better than the leafs tho if you want to see a win every now and again.
Pascal...harsh tokes bud, gimme a hug

I'd take Fisher over Doan any day of the week, in any game, any tournament, and any situation.
I think Shane Doan is very overrated. If he's such a great player, why does Phoenix consistently miss the playoffs.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but has Doan ever even won a playoff round. He might have won a couple over his long career, but it can't be much more than that.
Obviously, one player cannot win by himself, but that doesn't stop people from tagging the choke label on players like Thornton or Marleau. I think Shane Doan gets a free pass for some reason.
Pound for pound, Fisher is a better player. In fact, I would never trade Fisher for Doan. Fisher is much better.
Im a huge Fisher fan and believe he deserves a look for team Canada for sure. But you guys are not giving Doan enough credit in here. He plays on a dismal team in the dessert but still stands out each year as a great player. 16 points is still alot considering who hes playing with. He has answered the call for Canada everytime he has been asked, whether its world championships, olympics, or world cup. Never has asked for a trade and is all class. Im not saying Fisher might be the better choice for this team but dont discredit Doan hes a warrior.

Fish for Team Canada. That would be perfect for my Team Canada jersey!!!
Doan is sooooooooooo overated...he is one of those Don Cherry's boys that would have a hard time cracking the top line of an elite team.
How many players did we send to the last Olympics? And how did it work out for us? Besides Hasek pulling his groin or abductor or whatever, all those who came back tired were Alfie, Heatley, Spezza even if he was on the taxi squad, Schubert, Meszaros, Redden, Chara, Volchenkov I think, and I'm probably missing some.
Point is, while it may help Fisher's confidence, when the stakes are higher he'll play even harder and increase his chances of getting hurt. Let other players go get tired and hurt themselves. The sens players will be chomping at the bit after the break.
Fisher for top line centre replacing Crosby or at least Doan.... Fisher would add an element that guys line Heatley and Thornton lack - HEART
Realistically to make the team he has to continue to tear it up though as guys like Richards, Marleau, Stamkos, etc... are having pretty good starts as well
Can't wait till the Olympics
He certainly deserves a look, but he will not make the team. No way. He's not enough of a name, and the competition is way too stiff. I personally think he's one of the nbest penalty killing guys... well, in the league really, and that certainly will come in handy as we're sure to be burned with numerous phantom roughing, charging and boarding calls. It's unfortunate, but he will not make the team.

Plus, Bonus storyline:
Carrie Underwood is forced to choose between her country and her man.
WWJD!
Doan must know where some bodies are buried or something, there's no other explanation as to how he continually gets picked over more skilled people.
