clouston was asked about him and he wouldn't say which part, but that it was a "lower body" injury
he also said that he would be "ok". he said leclaire would "hopefully" be ok for monday.
while this doesn't say much, it shows that whatever they know, it isn't serious if they are hopeful he will return monday. the will sit him out monday just to rest it for precaution. thats my bet anyways
as for tonights play? awesome. let up a bit when buffalo netted those last two, but its good to see our offence actually working.we controlled the play for the first two periods. it was good to see our play excellerating even with penalties. i was impressed with the play of the sens tonight
i love the play of pascal leclaire. i hope this guy keeps up the way he's playing and he does so for multiple years to come. if we have the pascal of late for the next couple years while our young, STRONG defensive corps comes up we will be a force
Well, after watching the 3rd period... any word on Melynk filing a grievance on the officiating. I have to say, those were some of the worst calls I have seen in a while. Carkner gets high sticked, then goes and hits the guy and gets a boarding. Shannon gets cross checked and is given a penalty because they chirped a bit, and got pushed by the Sabre? Then, Neil gets a penalty for barely even rubbing his glove on the guy and gets a "cross-check"/"slashing" penalty?
I know it is rather childish to say something like this, but with calls like that you would honestly think there is some sort of conspiracy against the Ottawa Senators this year.
Good play tonight though, we did eventually let up, but as I said that wasnt really helped by those brain-dead morons. Elliott came into the third and played great late in the 3rd to hold on just a little longer. Loving the points Kuba put up tonight (1 goal, 3 assists). And I musn't of been the only whose jaw dropped after Alfie's second goal.
Great game overall for the Sens, but discipline is still an issue...Neil almost cost the Sens the game with his boneheaded double minor...they need to play a little smarter, otherwise, three in a row...awesome!
Elliot is our best goalie, i think. So better if Leclaire is the one of the two to hurt himself. Clouston almost coached his way out of another win, but it was nice to see the team fight back and salvage it for him. Neil should not have been on the ice in the third period, he's just like Downie.
Also, Kovalev is a strange hockey player from what I can tell. Can Clouston win coach of the year?
I love the way Pascal Leclaire battles to get in front of pucks. Not always the prettiest, but I love his compete level (not actually trying to sound like I'm Pierre McGuire...).
Hope PL is OK... They say lower body... purely speculation on my part, but does that mean groin?
Good game, 3 in a row, important 2 points. Now my rant. I've wanted to say this for a long time. It's no secret that Gary Betman is pro american. I have a theory that him and the NHL have a hidden agenda to have the refs favour american teams and canadian large market teams for penalties. It just seems that small market teams like Ottawa are treated unfairly. Just getting this off my chest.
I for one am proud of the Sens for not only winning, but for not folding with the likes of Volchenkov and Kovalev out...
This also goes and shows you that if Volchy wants too much money to stay....he's not irreplaceable. Don't get me wrong, I like him a lot and I hope we find a way to have him stay but just not at any cost. (3.5 m over 4 years max)
was it just me, but we actually missed the play of kovalev tonight. a guy like foligno and shannon wont be able to get the puck for fisher. i did like the way that neil played with fisher. what are your thoughts.
I was at the game and in Leclaires end when he got injured, he definitely looked like he was favoring his knee and did not look good, this happened about the half way mark of the 2nd and I have no idea why he didn't stop right then and there, you could tell he was hurting the whole time. Hopefully its nothing serious.
Washington is gonna be pissed that they lost to the Leafs so hopefully the Sens are ready and especially Elliot if he has to go.
Anon 7:14, what is Ovechkin's new nickname exactly?
Why do people rip on clouston? His line combos have obviously worked the last two games. If you people run another coach at of town, I hope you leave with him.
Apparently the reports were saying that LeClarie was favouring his leg when Hecht ran into him. Let's hope it's not so serious cause we all know his history with injuries.
When I saw Justin St. Pierre was reffing the game, I knew it would be a battle against the Sabres and the Zebras. He's the same guy that was so brutally "anti-Sens" for the two games in Florida 3 weeks ago. It would be VERY INTERESTING to see which ref called which penalties last night. The Sens got a bunch of power plays, which is good...but most of that was due to tired Sabres having a hard time keeping up. Calling penalties just on "reputation" is really getting old on guys like Neil. Can we just get calls on what actually happens and leave the rest out of it...PLEASE? The refs spend WAY too much time trying to send messages, even things up, change the flow of games, etc. The stars are the guys holding sticks, guys...leave it that way.
For all those picking on Neil, just know that without him the Sens wouldn't have been in such a good position to lock up the game after 56 minutes. Clouston said it best in the post-game interview: "He played a whale of a game." When Shannon showed little signs of life after one period, who got the call to take his spot on the 2nd line? Neiler responded like a champ and was very effective....again.
Many people keep track of individual stats more than they should for such a team sport, but sometimes they can be worth a look. In my case, I was very concerned about the Save % of the Sens goalies. Probably the best stats news from this game is that now BOTH OTTAWA GOALIES have a Save % above .900! It's pretty hard to win games if your goalie can't stop more than 9 out of 10 shots on net. Many of us have been saying for a while that offense (or scoring, forward depth, whatever you want to call it) is not an issue for this team. Players and even teams go through scroring droughts in a long season. In a while, when Spezza is lighting it up and Fish is struggling, will fans be harping for trades and demotions? It's a team game. The hole on this team is still on D, even though the guys have been doing a pretty good job for a few games. Picard and Lee are playing well, although the next time they get exposed everyone will be calling for them to be burned at the stake. An angry Caps team could be scary for these guys. I'm glad that Lee seems to be trying to mold himself into a "defense first" guy. It looks like he's trying to follow a path like Chris Phillips did all those years ago. Big Rig was touted as an offensive threat in addition to solid defender. After a while, he realized he'd better serve his team as a stay-at-home guy and just pick his spots every now and then. I still miss the presence of Donovan. There were so many times in this game that a guy like him instead of a Shannon, Regin or Winchester would have been a huge help. I hope some fans at the home games make huge signs saying "Win one for the Chum!" until he comes back.
I have not heard about his new nickname, what is it?
Wish the Sens had more depth, so they could bench Neil for a game, he played well, but imho you have to send a message when a player does something dumb like that at the end of the game.
Oh well, get ready for a pissed off Caps team on Monday.
Big win last night, hope they can keep it going. Neil is an idiot and could have cost the team 2 points. It was only a matter of time before he revealed his stupidity.
Good on Elliott for coming in cold and staying composed in the dying minutes of the game when we were down two men and Buffalo was pressing HARD. I think it's safe to say that our goalie woes are a story of the past. The team clearly feels confident with either Leclair or Elliott between the pipes and that's great.
I hope people recognize the work Michalek does in front of the net. I swear, we have our own Thomas Holmstrom in Ottawa now...
And yeah, tons of bullshit calls against us. But what doesn't kill WILL make us stronger.
Espn is laying on the sens/hawk trade rumors pretty thick. The Sens are playing great hockey right now, and I agree with the comment that we play equally confident in front of both Leclaire and Elliott.
hey guys the other day against the penguins there was an article on nhl.com , that said murray is happy....in this article brian elliott was brought up and to me it sounded like murray sees brian on another team in the future....i hope its just me over reacting , because that would be an idiotic move on his part, ive always looked at elliott as the future of the sens, and if we get rid of him , its going to come back to bite us soooo hard.......again this could be me just reading too much into it, but go find the article and see it for yourself...
chirp, has his name been brought up in any rumours at all??? i sure hope not,cuz a team like chicago would jump all over him , and its scaring me lol
This team is now finding it's groove and confidence and finally shaking off the shit that came with the last 1 and a half years. They are realizing that they can play with anyone and beat anyone. The season has officially begun.

Picard is especially intriguing. He’s averaging 19:58 in ice time per night and has nine points (one goal, eight assists) with three of his assists coming on the power play. He handles the puck well enough, and has enough of a shot, that he could be considered a good shot to be brought back next year. When you factor in that he’ll be a restricted free agent, and is only making $850,000 this season, he could be seen as a legitimate replacement for Barker on the Hawks blue line next season.
Compared to Picard, Barker is only averaging 13:59 in ice time per night and has 11 points (four goals, seven assists). Barker has cooled off in the scoring column, though; he has only scored five points in his last ten games, and has only scored in three of those ten games.
Anon @7:04pm, couldn't we throw chum on the LTIR to as he is out ~2months. Obviously, were getting close to the cap (or over it) when he gets back, but for the time being id rather have chum on this team then not

I was watching the Washington broadcast the other night and the colour guy was saying that Ovechkin absolutely hates his new nickname.
Let's see if we can get a chant of it going everytime he touches the puck on Monday!

Yeah Simon lets get the best player in the league angry and inspired to destroy us... or not.
What is this new nickname he hates anyways? Might want to include that.
Anon@9:40, his bangs match his fangs. I think it's a strong look.
Mike Brodeur will get called up and win 10 in a row.
why is chris kelly playing and why does he make 2.2 million?
SC, was that some impaired twittering last night or what?
Ovechin's new nickname is Sandy. Think it's because he's been singing a couple of songs from Grease in the shower.
Steve,
Nah just some late night thoughts.
The Matt Cooke comment came after watching the guy drop the gloves, with Ilya Kovalchuk.
Although to be fair, I did attend last night's game and did purchase multiple over priced beverages.
Good win last night.

Go Sens
Hey Guys,
Not sure if anyone can help me out with this or not but I'm having issues cutting and pasting content from an email into a new post.
Is there a way to do this?
Trying to get the Chirp of the Week feature put up...
hey guys the other day against the penguins there was an article on nhl.com , that said murray is happy....in this article brian elliott was brought up and to me it sounded like murray sees brian on another team in the future....i hope its just me over reacting , because that would be an idiotic move on his part, ive always looked at elliott as the future of the sens, and if we get rid of him , its going to come back to bite us soooo hard.......again this could be me just reading too much into it, but go find the article and see it for yourself...

Hey chirp, highlight the text, right click> copy, right click > paste. If that fails try highlighting and pressing ctrl+c and the pasting with ctrl+v
This team is now finding it's groove and confidence and finally shaking off the shit that came with the last 1 and a half years. They are realizing that they can play with anyone and beat anyone. The season has officially begun.
Yea thats what I've been trying. Just not working for whatever reason.
Chirp try and reboot, that may help if some windows or IE file got corrupt.
Also Elliot is not going anywhere, He has too much value at $850K for the next 2 seasons and a RFA to boot.
Hmm, how are you checking your email? Through a client like outlook? If you are, try going to the website directly, eg hotmail.com and login there and try. If all else fails, fire off an email requesting it in a word document or equivalent.
Dave
Yea I've tried all those options actually.
The issue seems to be pasting anything into the Blogger template.
Quite odd
Does anyone know about this chicago ottawa deal espn is reporting ..... that is almost done ??
If you are using safari try firefox, there is a glitch in safari which effects copy paste in blogger.
ESPN wants you to pay $2.50 to hear about the sens-hawks rumour. Ha. Here it is for free:
Picard and Shannon for Cam Barker.

Picard and Shannon for Barker? I will bear a child for Bryan Murray if he pulls off that deal.

Cam Barker

Ryan Shannon
the article in on this website below states that Chicago seem very interested in the deal. And it
seems like it wud be a fair deal
http://bleacherreport.com/articles/294318-chicago-blackhawks-are-the-senators-barking-to-make-a-deal
That deal looks pretty good to me. Ottawa definitely has an interest in Barker but I think the offer is mostly speculation.
I really get the sense the Hawks/Senators rumours are going to pick up this week.
Steph, get in line behind me.
anybody have any updates on leclaire?
Good game last night. Regarding the trade rumors, as it is it makes no sense for Murray to pull that deal as Ottawa would go over the cap. We need to send back 1.7 mil in cap money to make it work, then we need to get money to re-sign Volchenkov. I think the only option would be this, given each team's circumstances:
